I'm trying to get a bike from bikesdirect shipped to Canada...unfortunately like a few select retailers they won't ship out of the country.

Does anyone have experience with a freight-forwarding service like www.myus.com ? Any other company they've used?

Is it worth your while to have it shipped to a bordertown post office and cross the border to pick it up?
If you take it for a spin while you're over there it wont look so new when you bring it home (ahem).

I'm about a 10 hour drive from the border, so it's not a quick jaunt accross. :)

Do you sometimes travel to US (business or leisure)?
I never bought a bike from the US, but all my running gear comes from runningwharehouse.
A week before I travel to US and if I need something I will purchase it from runningwharehouse then have it shipped to where I will be in the US.

I've used myus for years. They're great! Any time I've ever had a question, they've been quick to explain and their pricing is so much better on odd shaped items like bikes. They explained to me how it's all calculated with dimensional weight. I doubt I can post link but you can find it in one of their old blogs. They'll definitely be half the price.
