Triathlon on Recumbant ?

I'm ride a recumbent cycle, and am getting into Triathalons. I like recumbent bikes because I can relax and carry a lot of stuff.
Advice please from those doing Triathalons who are Recumbent Cyclists, the proud the few !
I want to get going soon, hoping for Iron Man.

I would check the rules in your local jurisdiction (USAT etc.) I don't think recumbants are legal in tri's due to the aerodynamic advantage. Don't quote me for gospel, but IIRC this came up a while back and that was the prevailing opinion...

I was afraid of that.
I see lots of people in hand cycles, I figured they would allow Recumbent cycles. bummer.

From what I understand, it is not aerodynamics, it is handling which means safety. When I see those things on the road they are all over the place.

Was a RD, I would never allow these in a race, sanctioned or not, they are NOT safe for racing.

I was not advocating the use of them - but have seen them in some non sanctioned races - I agree if I were an RD I would not allow them. Period!!! :-)

I do wear a helmut and use toe-clips.
Never crashed, so I feel like I am safe enough to race with the best of them!
In fact, if people would try them, they would find they get more power in the stroke, and NO neck pain!!

If it is neck issue then you can always ride a regular road bike and not worry about the forward position of a tri bike.
We had a guy ride an Elliptigo (look it up) last year at a Duathlon. He was DQ'd but had fun. It was a rather small event so the RD let him race even though he knew in advance he would be DQ'd. But I doubt you would make it into transition for an IM.
