I'm sure there's been a post about this already. But...there used to be an aide station or 2 at Wildflower with some very bold college frat and sorority types displaying all their glory. Did it provide passion and motivation to the athletes?
Organizers asked college volunteers to tone it down in recent years. Thus speedos and bikinis are the chosen pieces of clothing. Just curious if anyone has any funny stories regarding this and how this all started. Do they go all night
streaking on Saturday around the camp site near the run out course? Also wondering if people show up to this event just for this type of party element. I know some pros dig the after parties and Wildflower seems to have that culture
going. On Youtube there is a couple videos floating around but sorry folks it's pretty grainy. Looked like a bunch of drunk dudes free balling. Hardly any ladies. Hi Def probably wouldn't please you too much. Does this naked streaking
add to the Wildflower event and it's mystique or does it drag it down? It is supposedly a family friendly event. When Julie Dibbens broke the record she was quoted something about one of the college kids asked to marry her. It would
have been hilarious if he was naked and she turned him down. haha! Does this have any thing to do with the popularity of the event? In some small way?

last time that happened at IMLP the Feminazi's went off. They even commented about how "terrible" it was at the awards ceremony. Jeesh...

Dam, that would break a race for me. Some naked college chics would force a full stop/rest period at that water station.
Just noticed the free-balling being the majority. If thats the case, then this needs to be stopped. I am completely offended.

Ahhhh, the good ole days.....I remember doing Wildflower back in the 90's when that aid station was a topless sight to behold, that being said I passed about 15 guys standing there talking to the topless hotties as I ran by them.......but, one thing I can still see in my mind today is the 4th topless girl in the line, I have always remembered her for some reason!

Yeah the good old days. I flew out in the mid 90's and did the race and here I come up the back side out on the trail. It was probably 95 that year and I thought I was dreaming or it was a mirage. It was so freakin hot out all I could do was look up and smile and keep chugging along. How the heck can you remember the 4th girl in the line when it was 17 years ago. Heck, it's been so long I don't even remember what year I went.

Did like 5 years ago when it might have been the last time. Had like 2 women, and 1 guy at an aid station. I was so tired going by the aid station I do not remember much. But I do remember around mile 5 or something, there were
2 college gals by the dirt run trial. I said to them I would show them mine if they they showed me theirs, and I pulled up my running top. One gal flashed me but what I remember the most is the other gal saying she
did not have enough to show. Those were the days.

Wildflower 2007 - apparently some type of collegiate championship race. Racing at the pointy end of a more mature age-group and two of us are duking it out on the run going through the trail section in the woods. We were moving through the collegiate guys who had started in an earlier wave, having to let them know we're coming and to get out of the way on the trail. 1st great moment was when one of the collegiate guys says, "damn, you old dudes are animals!" Shortly therafter we run up a steep hill, still in the woods, and I'm clinging to the much smaller, lighter guy and praying for some flat or downhill because he's about to shatter me - turn the corner and there's a quite exceptional naked coed with delicious looking bouncing boobies, jumping up and down and screaming encouragement. We run by, the guy I'm racing stops, turns around, jogs back and gives her a big hug. Out of respect and admiration I stopped, let him get in front of me, gave him a golf clap and a hearty "well struck sir!"

My first WF, 1997. 95 degrees, hot as balls. Come around the corner at mile 3 off the single track along the stifling hot lake canyon, and to my wonderment appears an entire aid station of hammered - drunk naked college kids. As a female, I appreciated the "equal opportunity" visual of a nude dude with his junk totally slathered in neon zinc oxide, with nothing else but an "umbrella hat" on his head, offering me ice cold Gatorade.
Up until the early 2000's the college kids racing the collegiate championships used the streak through the campgrounds on Friday night as pre-race entertainment for the LC racers.
About the same time, Terry Davis cracked down on the drunken debauchery of the SLO student volunteers. Prior to this, almost 2000 college students would load up their cars with booze and sleeping bags on Thursday and party their asses off before, during and after the race all weekend long.
I got old and stopped camping by 2003, so I'm not sure the streak goes on.
Last time I did WF, 2007, the college kids were back and naked about mile 5 up in the woods. You can't stop a good thing!

My WF story - I was approaching an aid station on the run that was staffed by a bunch of Cal Poly girls. I said "wish me luck it's my birthday (it was)." One of the girls said "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" and flashed me. Laughed myself silly.

I can vouch for this...I don't think I ran as fast during the race as I did when the park rangers rolled up behind us and tried to "pull us over", so to speak. On "1, 2, 3...GO!" we all split and ran into the closest available (empty) tent. I think I ended up in a tent with 4 other dudes (unfortunately not one of the chicks who ran with us), all from different schools.
Plus the middle-age lady who spotted us, ran diagonally across the field of at least 150m to grab a good vantage point, pivot, and still had enough time to turn around and snap a photo...she must have been hauling ass, because we weren't jogging.

It was always a good spot to slow down and make sure you had plenty of fluids for the climbing that followed...
It has been replaced by Terri Davis and his pre-race prayer... I stopped going to that race about five years ago.

I have not been for 5 years also. Assuming I go tomorrow, I am hoping they sneak back into the 4 mile Aid station for the Oly race.
If I remember correctly, the rangers where trying to stop them even back then.
