True, after Kona last fall (note the easy drive-by gloat) I did park the steed for a time to go into the running pain cave but you can underestimate my cycling all you want but you should know I have doubled the amount of time I spent on a bike this year compared to last.

Of course, none of the above will do anything to cure my irrational fear of the downhills at AmZof. If I see 40mph, I'm hittin' the brakes. I just can't help it!

This is ST - photos or it didn't happen ;-)
One of the details which will make this trophy truly epic is that it incorporates the actual chain ring with which Chris crushed dreams.
His wife, Jenny, has been a big help in providing the ring and allowing us to express our love and admiration for her husband in our own humble way.

And 2 "s"s in "asshole".
If the improbable happens, and you actually win, we'll put on the trophy the name Chris called you by.

This year's race promises to be very special.

I was fortunate enough to actually meet Chris on the course last year and I put this in my RR:

Lap 3 – Do the hills grow when watered? Sure seems like it. A little voice in my head says: “This course is evil!” No wait, that’s fellow ST’er ChrisG pulling up along side me. Shared a laugh, then wished him luck and he did the same as he peeled off to run again leaving me to climb Mohonk alone

To me, those two minutes kind of sum him up: strong, happy, funny and encouraging. Glad I got to have a beer with him afterwards as well. As I sip my first one this year, I'll tip my cup to him and think of that smile which was uniquely his.

And there's 2 chins in tetsuoni. Maybe 3 at this point.

Yup - pretty long odds on the person who went 2nd** and 1st in the 2 prior F1 races to win again.
Highly unlikely.

** when he was out of shape.

I've never not podiumed at AmZof.
Nothing short of my own demise will end that streak this year.
Book it now.

It's what I'm here for.

Side note - historical weather for AmZof has been:
Epic, then nice for 5 years, then epic.
So, if the pattern continues, we should have really nice weather this year, and for several more.

But I wouldn't bet on it.

Making my AmZof debut on the long course. I'll either be laughing the whole time or crying. Looking forward to embracing the pain. I haven't had my ass handed to me in quite a while.

Yes, I think a lot of laughing and crying at the same time will be the theme of the day. I'm 35-39 (female). According to the participant list there are only (3) people registered for the LC. Really? I do hope that's not right... Although if that's the case, if I finish I get some prize $$. Woo!

Sweetheart, one of three things will happen to you at AZ.

1. You will race LC and be glad to just make it to the finish line.
2. You will race F1 and Bakker will give you a spanking.
3. You will race SC and I will give you a spanking.

If one of these three things doesn't happen, I will carry a water bottle for you in the 5K of your choice.

After you finish the LC, win the SC, and drink a few car bombs along the way, maybe I will consider letting you in my ballet. Until then, you are going to have to stick to pole dancing.

OK. Here are some midway shots. None of the pieces are attached. The columns have only been rough turned and still need to be fluted. If you look close at the bottom you can see where the chain ring will go. The middle section will be where the winners name plate goes (that piece of wood was just a place holder for me). The stein will go on top. All peices will be stained and finished. Also the columns will be shortened as they are capped right now so they could be turned, but are actually hollow.

Cool. Thanks for doing this.
Please take it to your local voodoo priestess and have it anti-ML jinxed.

I had to hire a private investigative team, but I finally found out the *REAL* reason for ML's tardy return to ST. (the name "Andrew" was used to protect the "innocent" ;).

I don't see Mimi Boyle listed as registered. She usually wins the women's LC. I'm surprised she isn't racing.

I believe that second column in the Registered List shows the amount a person paid and not the event they entered, except for the first three people listed. Usually there are ~ 7-8 female LC finishers, so you only have to beat a few to get some prize money. Beware, however, many (myself included) consider the big-ass mug to be more valuable than the $$s. If so, 4th or 5th is a bad place to be because you can't also win your AG - you get the $$s but not the mug. Not that I have to worry about finishing in the money.

Mimi contacted me to volunteer this year, so she will be with us, where she belongs, but not racing.
I'll try to clean up the entry list - I don't know why my webmaster posts entry fees, and not age groups.

The course record is about 2:37, by a now pro. I think a 2:45 stands a strong chance of winning SC, but not guaranteed. If I was going to pick an over/under I would go with 2:46.
