The return of the new Fiat Abarth... Quote | Reply

As a boomer and long time car enthusiast you've gotta love all the retro nostalgia these days in the modern cars. The original 1960's Fiat Abarth was actually banned because it was so much faster than its competition. Was sort sort of a working class man's Ferrari.

"the Italian chick it the Abarth commercials......"

Apparently she's not even Italian, but Romanian and that in itself has caused a bit of a contraversy in Italy. Whatever, she sure looks damn good. Scares me however that she's about the same age as my daughter.LOL!!

I was never a big fan of the Fix.It.Again.Tony's (FIAT) in their heyday but anything with Abarth after the Fiat name is very worthy. I always loved the Fiat 124 Abarth version. I'd almost remorgage for an original of one of these if you could ever find one. They were very low production volume.

And now she's very famous as well as beautiful. However, at my age, I'm more interested in the car. :-)

Thought you might like the race results from the Pirelli World Challenge Series which raced last week at Miller Motorsports park in Utah.

Yep, continuing the tradition. I saw a couple of the original Fiat Abarth 500's racing at Watkins Glen at the Sept. vintage festival last year. Not super fast, but definatley cool. Have no idea where the owners find spare parts these days!

Whooooopps. My big bad. Went back and corrected it. My Italian language skills were never that good (even though my ex wife is Italian origin !). Thanks for picking that up.

No problem. It sounds pretty good coming from the voice of the girl in the commercial, which is how I remember how to spell it.

Thirteen posts about the Abarth and not a single photo of the model. Seriously?

Slackers.

That is one fine automobile.

I was just thinking the same thing of the new Shelby Mustang. We're definitely in the second golden age of the American muscle car.

The girls is finely tuned but the Fiat 500 is much less expensive to maintain.

It's a good looking car but it takes 8 seconds to get to 60 mph. There are trucks and SUVs quicker than that.

From my research on Google images, that woman never wears anything but bathing suits and lingerie.

A role model for hot women everywhere.

Not in anything involving braking or turning. It's about fun, and cars that weigh that little are impossibly fun.

Or to put it another way, there are plenty of women with bigger tits than Catrinel, but Cat could make you forget all about that in about two seconds "behind the wheel."

"takes 8 seconds to get to 60 mph"

As they say, its way more fun to drive a slow car fast than to drive a fast car slow. Not always about pure speed. I had an original 1968 Mini-Cooper S many years ago. Now that was a car that was a blast to drive even if it was slow by today's standards. My brother has a restored 1973 Lotus Europa twin cam. Talk about driving fun.....

Not sure where you are getting your numbers - but Motor trend tested it out at 6.7, and there are bunches of European tests on the same model (essess over there) regularly show up in the 6.5-6.7 range. It is in Cooper S territory, but lacks higher end grunt.

"new Shelby Mustang"

Would love one of those. I test drove an original 1965 Shelby GT350 Mustang in the 1990's and it was a bit of a truck by modern standards, but definately a legend. Until the recent Mustangs, the last Mustang to really excite me was the SVO in the mid 1980's. Almost bought one but purchased a Dodge Shelby Charger instead. I'm looking forward to the vintage festival at Watkins Glen in mid Sept because the honored marque will be the Mustang, so there should be a lot of them there.
