New to slowtwitch and only a year in triathlons. Looking for a bike for my wife and she likes some brand called Grigio. Especially the pink model. I am trying to push her towards a nice used P2 at a local bike shop. Any thoughts? thx for any info!

Hell, looking at it - for the same money she could be on a carbon bike, pink with Campagnolo Record parts.....

Coincidentally, out on a ride 2 weeks ago I ran into a group of 3 people all riding Grigio bikes - 2 in a bright orange frame that really caught my eye. No question these are attractive bikes. Turns out, one of the group was Martin Grigio himself, and when we stopped with them to fill up on liquids we talked about the bikes his company makes.

I gave the bikes a close inspection, and both through his description and through this thorough once-over, they seem to be very well made bikes. One of the things he stressed is that his bikes are hand built in north america (forget exactly where he said) whereas cervelo and virtually every else has their carbon frames mass produced in Taiwan or elsewhere in Asia. Since that day I've noticed that this brand has a reasonably strong local following here in south Florida (where the company is based) and they tended to be ridden by serious riders (read: people who are passing me) rather than simply people who pick up the most expensive bike they can find to show-off (which is a pretty common shopping tactic around Miami, believe it or not). Beyond that, I haven't ridden them myself yet, so can't provide additional detail there.

The other thing I can say is that Grigio was a really nice guy, seemed knowledgeable about bike design, and generally gave me the impression that his operation is one that you wouldn't mind paying a bit of a premium to do business with, because he's going to make it worth your while.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info. That really helps. We are still deciding which bike would be best for her. Thanks again!
