P1 Pics? & advise. Quote | Reply

Been out of the loop for a while. Bought a race timing company so I have not been racing much.
So, I have been riding a 2008 Orbea Opal. Very nice. Simple Easton Vista wheel set, FSA SLK cranks, FSA Carbon K-Wing bars, DA Shifters, Ultegra brakes, 105 Black Front & Rear Der. I like the bike, it rides well, but I miss being in the aero position and that feel of aero-ness.
So as luck would have it, our local running store got a 2010 P1 in, from someone to sell. It's simple, Gossamer cranks (downgrade), Stock Cervelo brakes (downgrade), Mavic open pro with PT (BONUS!). Simple Vision cockpit no carbon. It's a 54cm, I think is just right for me. My Opal is a compact 54cm, but is a tad long.

So I'd like to get the good ole ST advise on this one, and would like to see some P1's if I could.
Race schedule is very nill...

Thanks

P1 with powertap? Sounds like the perfect bike to get you back into it ;)

You could always swap over the parts that you want from your Orbea and put them on to the P1!

I thought about swapping parts, But as luck would have it. Another friend is looking for a 54 road bike. So may not have that option.

Looking forward to the test ride on the P1 this week.

I am bias since I ride a P1, but I like it.

Probably one of those situations though once you go higher up the food chain, you wouldn't want to go back down (if you eventually upgrade to P2, P3, etc.), but for entry level triathlete who strives to age group podium, P1 is capable of getting you there.

+1 to this - i know it's not my bike that's holding me back.

i ride a 54cm from 2009, mine since new, and i'm still quite enamoured with it :)

cheers!

that is a sweet bike and there is nothing wrong with the cranks or brakes.

vision cockpit is among the best too.

how about a video of a P1 instead of a pic?
2011 P1, bought brand new for $1300. bought too early to get in on a P2 with Share The Ride, but I'm very happy with the purchase.

I just wish they had some fore/aft adjustment on those pads, or the bars for that matter. I ended up changing to T2+ to tweak the fit and it just looks way more "dirty" up front (though I can hold the position more easily now).

i believe you can swap the pads left/right which slightly changes their fore/aftness

News to me, I will have to try when I get home. If that works, I may be able to go back to my visions, which will be awesome. As it is, I am thinking of going to those new zipp aluminums when they come out. those look very clean, very low and very adjustable.

I have gotten a couple of podiums on my Orbea. Done a 70.3 on it as well. 3 oly's and half doz. sprints.

Nice set up. This one is going for $1600, I think due to the PT, it is wired.

I have had my P1 for just about a year and I am pretty happy with it. I got it as an entry level bike just to see if I liked the sport. Turns out its an addicting sport and I am ready for an upgrade. Looking for a stiff carbon frame now. Overall, I would recommend it.
