I've noticed that the organizers have made some minor changes to the run course, too:

http://ironmanmonttremblant.com/course/run/

From the run out, we go straight out to chemin de la Chapelle (flat), instead of going up through the pedestrian village to ch. de l'Hermite, which would have been a real leg-buster, especially right off the bike. That section is now at the end of the run loop, where it's downhill instead of up (though you do have to go up on de la Chapelle to get there, but it's more gentle).

This should put athletes in a much better mood when running through the pedestrian village. And it will get you past the smell of the waffle cones at the ice cream shop that much faster. ;-)

To compensate, they've added on to the "Le P'tit Train du Nord" linear park section along Lac Mercier, which is flat.

This is the second time that they have made the run course less hilly. Works for me ;-)

No small change, though it might look that way to those who have never been there. That first 1.5 kms was a tough start post-ride. I ran it in the winter: the village hill + the hermitage hill where you turn around at the top. Seemed gratuitous.

P'tit Train any day.

Fantastic!
If they keep this up, the bike and run will all be downhill. Now if they can make the swim down stream, I know I'll be able to finish!

On one hand, there goes some small percentage of my bragging rights; "This race is so tough that it starts with a mile straight uphill!".

On the other hand, thank god. I suspect this course will be challenging enough as it is.

There is an ice cream shop on the run course? Well, I guess I know where to look for my wife.

I think finman already tried to make the swim at IMFlorida downhill but failed pathetically! If nothing else the swim at Tremblant is flat. Transitions are also flat. The rest of the course, the easiest way to flatten it is to lose weight and gain watts.

That's a bummer...as I was hoping to ease my starting pace with that hill plus what a great way to start the marathon.

I put me and my bike on a diet. Been doing enough 2 x 20's to send my TSB score deep into negative territory. ;) I think I need about 5 months of AR right now.....

The problem is that the initial spike is in front of all the spectators. I was hoping to at least seem to striding along until I got out of sight. I stress 'seem'

I agree. I ran what was previously the first section last summer. That would sure have been painful.

We still go up to and on chemin de L'Hermite for a little bit but the steeper sections were further up the road if I recall correctly.

Wish they would have kept it the old way. Any chance they change it back? Just by profile it looks a lot easier than the placid run...

it will be tougher than Lake Placid. +/- half the marathon is on the parc linéaire which is flat, but the remaining is always up and down. I ran both of them

The New Specialized Wind Tunnel
Will this be a game changer for Specialized, in both sales and product design, or will it not move the sales and design needle versus those in Specialized's competitive set?
Yes, Game Changer
