Mount LYC with torpedo bottle

Can you guys show me some pictures of how you mount your wired PT computer along with a torpedo mounted bottle? I am pretty small and am trying to get creative because I don't see an easy way for this all to fit on my current setup and fit.
Anyone mount the computer to the top of the steerer tube somehow?

that is exactly what I was thinking, but I couldn't come up with the right search. Apparently steerer tube mount is not nearly as popular.
Where did you find that last mount? I am not seeing that one and it may be the one that works best for me.

Here's a

this one is kind of cool too [cheaper], looks like you'd need to have excess steerer tube though:

Now that I actually try this, I can't see the computer back on the stem cap, so I am trying to put the LYC out front near my hands. I basically need it between the shifters because if I put it between the actual extensions, then I can't fit my bottle in there.
Suggestions on mounting this thing betwee the shifters?

I like the concept, problem is that I am using a wired PT because I am cheap, so using a HUD system seems cost prohibitive at this point!
The real problem is that I am just too little (5'7" and pretty short forearms), so I don't have much room on the front extenstions to begin with. Then, I have an ergo stem on there to get the base bar really low, and that hinge eats up an inch or two also where my bottle would be.
I could probably fix this if I went to an integrated bar (which would put the pads way lower than my T2s), but again, I am trying to be thrifty, so dropping a bunch of cash on an integrated bar that is not remotely as adjustable as my current setup seems counter to my goals of going fast and spending little!

the solution may ultimately be to not use a torpedo mount if you want to pace by power.
or hack up something to put the lyc on your wrist! (crap, that wont work if it is wired, I forgot)

We are thinking along the same lines. That is how I have raced up until now, I just keep my 305 strapped on my wrist, turned about 90 degrees out of how you would normally where it while running. I woulud ride based on HR and cadence.
System worked well, got me to sub 5 hr HIM, and sub 10:30 IM. I have seen my bike results plateau though, so I am hoping that power will help me train smarter and pace smarter.

hey there
this looks like what i need. i want to run a PD bottle between my extensions and that leaves me only the stem as a spot for my LYC. unfortunately the stem has a scalloped design and it really won't accommodate the mounting harness. this would lift the LYC up and out of the way. yay.
my only concern is length ... how long are those arms? i need the length from top cap edge to the front of the mounting spot. please please :-)

I'd move the bottle cage back and the computer forward.
With the computer as far forward as you can place it between the aero bars, it is in your line of sight. I use a a piece of black PVC tube zip tied to the aero bar extensions.
Something like this (stole pic from another thread thanks
inaba116
)
Then I use the stem cap bolt through the rear hole in a Trek Bat cage and zip tie the front to the stem.
Like this (stole the pics from
vikingmd
):
If you need every more room to fir it all, you can use a
King mount
.
This allows me to use a a large bottle between the arms and still see my computer without tipping my head back (an aero helmet up) as would be required if you mounted the computer behind the bottle.

Just zip tie the mount between the extensions, without a plastic tube. Two zip ties on each side.

It really might be this simple. That doesn't sound extremely sturdy, but that would definitely get the thing lower and further forward. I will post pics when I sort it all out.
Thanks everyone for the ideas, please keep them coming.

Agree with everything you have, and have run in those directions with my though process as well; but my particular geometry prohibits it. I am too low to move the bottle back (it will hit the stem); my arms are too short to move the computer forward (extensions are not long enough); I have thought of the king mount, but those things are not too aero (they stick the bottle way up in the air above your arms).

I have an X-Lab Torpedo mount that is set off center to the left by about 1/2". That allows my Garmin 500 (which I'm guessing is about the same as the LYC in size) to easily fit on the right aero bar. If need be I could easily move the mount left another 1/2". All I did was take a piece of 1/8 sheet rubber and contact glue it to the bottom of the X-Lab mount so that it doesn't clatter on the stem.
This is on a 2012 Transition with the aero bar in the standard position for spacing. It puts the bottle off center over the front wheel, which bugged me for a while, but I got used to it.

Now that is also something that I had not considered. I am using a regulr cage zip tied to my extensions, but there is no reason that I couldn't hike up one side of it and stick the computer on the other one.
That is a feasible solution as well at this point.
thanks.

Can you explain what you mean by " I am too low to move the bottle back (it will hit the stem)?"

I'm assuming he means his clip on aerobars are mounted below the basebar.

hey there
for anyone who cares, i just got one of these. i bought it from the "pro's" website, not their ebay page. the thing is pretty cool. it replaces my existing top cap, weighs pretty much the same as my old alum/plastic cap, and it has that cool CF weave. and we all know that merely seeing the carbon weave is worth 15 to 20 watts.
the barrel has a functional width of 40 mm. it accommodates my LYC bracket very well.
the barrel sits a total of 60 mm ahead of the top cap, leaving the LYC to hang another 20 mm beyond that. ish.
its great when you find a part that is EXACTLY what you wanted. this is that part for me. very happy.
