speedfill bottles..

I cannot find any pros that use this system... if anything I see the profile aero bar mount, or the behind the seat dual bottles with a straw tube to front. It takes a bit energy to get the water out the first time... is it the same with the dual bottle set up? Im wondering why this hydration system isnt so popular... could it be because it is not efficient for bottle swapping? At leadman, everytime I would take a bottle to refill it, I had to take the bottle to the next aide station stuff in my aero bars because the trash for the bottle was too close to the original station.

You're referring to the Speedfil A2 mounted between the aerobars?

You mean the A2, used by Andy Potts and Heather Jackson, first male pro, second female pro, at oceanside 3 days ago?
I was thrilled to have my A2 at Oceanside as I rode by countless bottles laying about on sections of rough road. Even saw two go flying out like bottles from a peloton when a bump was hit. For HIM I use one 3 hour infinit bottle in the Speedfil, one water bottle in downtube cage gets tossed and replaced as needed.

I like the A2. I want to see a design for a "home-made" one. Maybe a piece of hard plastic cut out to accommodate a bottle cage and 4 cable ties? Anyone else try this?

You can get a well designed stem mount from speedfil, has a bracket to attach a cage and even risers if need be for $20

Nice, thx.
From what I have seen, I like these. Just haven't raced with it yet. I noticed some drafting athletes starting to use these too, they are starting to catch on in all crowds!

This. I bought Speedfil's stem mount yesterday. Any bottle cage can be mounted to it. Speedfil includes a bracket thingy that can shift the bottle fore or aft depending on your preference. It is so simple it is ridiculous.

Used it at Oceanside 70.3 last weekend. It's a brilliant little system. The guys at Speedfil will tell you that the stem mounted bottle saves even more watts than a regular torpedo mount....

I like TriRig's modification of the A2 (i.e. seal up the original tube hole and put a hole in the bottle at the opposite end of the fill cap & angle bottle slightly down so the fill cap is the highest point). I made another small adjustment by making the drinking tube somewhat retractable. That is, I push the tube into the bottle when not in use (with just the bite valve sticking up). To drink, I pull the tube out (I have ~2" of larger diameter tube at the end to prevent me from pulling the tube completely out of the bottle). I have only tried it in training but it seems to work rather well. I keep a concentrate aero bottle on the frame & use the A2 for water. I slightly break aero to raise the drinking straw & get out of aero only to drink the concentrate (a few seconds every 20 min) and, of course, to refill the A2.

I don't think you'll get a very favorable opinion of that system here, but their A2 system is altogether different.

x2.
I'v got both systems, the A2 and the original Speedfil. The original (triangle tank) system is not bad, but it does require quite a bit of tubing to be snaked up your frame/bars to be usable, which means zip ties in a couple places. It's also hard to clean that much tubing, and even if you buy the SpeedSok to keep the reservoir cool, the fluid in the tube itself will get pretty warm. It's heavy when full (42oz) and is kinda a pain in the arse to get in and out of the bracket after your race or training session. You may have to stop pedaling to refill it. The A2, on the other hand, works with many bottles, so I use a polar insulate bottle (and there are different sizes of these), fits in a known good aero spot between the arms, and is easy to refill. I would recommend buying some small magnets, and glue some to the bottle bracket and some to a zip tie, which you fasten around the drink tube, to make sure it stays down out of the wind when not in use.

I think Potts uses the A2 and I also spotted one on Heather Jackson's bike at the Oceanside expo, so there are pros using it.

Anyone found a way to modify the OLD speedfil, or something similar, to mount between the aerobars?
for say improved capacity or aero...
Cross the aeroprofile drink, torhans, with the A2
My bars are close together, Im not sure a bottle will really fit comfortably, and the capacity would still be less.

I still use the original Speedfil system. works well for me, but maybe it slows me down :(
used it for IM and still like the fact I can fill up on the fly.
yep it gets warm that isn't good, and the insulating cover they sell doesn't help (much)
