What kind of tires is everyone riding?
Do I really need 25s, or will the usual 23s suffice?

USAC prohibits fields larger than 50 for Cat 5s, which is a good idea IMHO. I Presume starting multiple fields ten minutes apart means separate podiums, etc., but this is pure conjecture.

Anyone not racing last minute who may want to transfer their spot? Or have any awesome, clever suggestions for getting in last minute? Going down with snackchair and thought it'd be fun to hop in, especially if I can get in the Cat3 race in deal out a little discomfort for snackchair ;)
And, before someone makes a comment about specific racing cats and USAC license requirements yada yada yada ... I know. That's why I'm looking for an "awesome and clever suggestion".

Vittoria Pave Clinchers. I used them last year, kept the tire pressure a bit lower (100-05ish) and was fine.

Let's not be too harsh...guys got enough problems given that race-day registration is at a school. He's not supposed to go within 1/4 mile of one of those.

yes, all different individual races. i believe it's just a random sorting, although they try to keep teams together.

All I have laying around are a ton of ProRace3 and a trainer tire. I figured I would be good, I have taken the PR3 on packed gravel and dirt a few times. Although I will be racing with my heavy wired rear PT wheel.

I have raced regular 23 cc Vredstein Tricomps here 4 times and ridden the course at least another 5 times with these tires. I have flatted once. I would just use regular tires here. I did use Michelin pro race tires once and got a bad cut (didn't flat) in the tire. The surface here is nothing even close to cobbles and and as of two weeks ago, most of the dirt in the first half of the race was pretty much hard packed clay, very fast and smooth.
I would make sure to bring gear to change a tire. Fields get very strung out and it may be hard to get a wheel. The one time I flatted I had to fix it myself and still managed to finish in the middle of my field.

I'm pretty sure there's no running at this race.

I think Cat 6 is still above Canadian Womans division.

I know I know but this guy does not race to to just race. I think he will be a cat5 because this is i think his first road race. But probably should be a cat 2-3 speed and endurance wise. Dont know about tactical, but if anything he is a student of the sport so will hold his own.

I think that goes without saying based on his 5K time.

That's exactly what I've got on my wheels now. I guess I just wasn't sure since they seem to be a softer rubber. That perception isn't based on any hard stats though, so I could be way off.

I race the Continental Gatorskins 25c tires. Raced them 4 years at this race and no flats. Definitely recommend 25s.

Are the dirt roads dry/sandy this year? Frankly, I am hoping they have had some rain.

Rode the full course today. 3:30 at a moderate pace (still wore me out), not bad considering this is 20 miles longer than I have done so far this year and I ran hill repeats yesterday.

Thanks! Eganski and my teammate took off around 10 miles in and stayed away with 1 other guy until 40 (or more, lost track). I thought they were gone and almost cracked alternating playing defense and trying to bridge. Attacked selection 4 times in in last 5k trying to get away but at 1 it was evident we were going to line. Still managed to screw up the sprint, which is pretty typical.
Have to say that race and venue is everything it's billed to be. Simply awesome and I hope to be back next year.
Btw, yoda was spot on about time prediction of 2:45-- to the minute.

I'm thinking mile 45 or so, but in a few years we will say we attacked at the start and stayed away until the last 500m.
A lot of fun, it was AWESOME meeting you, I can't wait to cross paths again (hopefully for Vineman). Slowtwitch is rad.

I guess thrashing around with 2000 others at CdA doesn't count. If Vineman doesn't work out I'm thinking Vegas for March Madness with Z. We can go jogging.
