2012 Paris-Roubaix

The greatest day of racing is almost here. A bit sad that Fabs is injured, it completely changes the tone of the race.
What do your podium/sleeper picks look like? It goes without saying that Boonen, Pozzato, and Ballan will be heavy favorites. After almost dropping Boonen on the Paterberg, I think I'll pick Pozzato to win.
Also, according to this
start list
, there will be a Sagan starting on Sunday - except it's Juraj not Peter.
Sleeper picks for me are Degenkolb and Hayman, who finished 10th last year.

One of the things

occasionally blesses us with is a surprise winner. Usually in a year when the skies open.
I don't know the weatehr forecast for the region but one can hope, for the sake of the spectators but not the gladiators, that the clouds will gather and the rain will fall. It makes the Arenberg....

For lack of bad weather, well, I like Pozzato as well, but Boonen is not to be counted out. It's his home turf.

Boonen. Sleeper (if you can call him that) is Chavanel. Without FC there to blow the race up and nobody wanting to drag Tommeke around, a break has a great shot at sticking.

those are good picks, although if its cold & raining I think Hushovd will be in the mix. he seems to race better in the cold.

Hushovd has been nowhere this season in the classics, even worse than last year. I doubt we'll see him at all.

I had to look that up to figure who it was. From wikipedia doesn't seem he's ever had any results in European Classics so doubt he'll be a contender.

De Panne is a way different animal than P-R and not really the type of race for Tuft.

I think Omega will get someone up the road to take the pressure off Tom.
Steegmans or Chavanel could be the early aggressors that can also go the distance. I'd expect Argos to get Veelers or Degenkolb in the early move, too and leave the other protected for the last 100k.
Would love to see the custom green bikes we did for the team roll into the velodrome first. It is going to be an exciting; less-predictable race with FC out.

Yup....although I would definitely put Sagan up there in the mix, much more so for Roubaix than Flanders. Although the cobbles are harder in Roubaix, Flanders seems to take that extra bit of experience.
But if Omega puts Chavanel in a "early" break, it could well stay clear all the way to Roubaix.

correct, though world championships (when not held in Denmark) is a pretty close second
