You can't go wrong with Inn at Little Washington or Chez Francois, but still within your 2-hour buffer is this gem for an overnight stay.

My wife LOVED this place.

I'm sure I'm stating the obvious but don't buy her something aluminum.

Should have gotten her pregnant about 5 months ago- nicely eliminates travel...

I did diamond earrings and a nice meal brought home (2 kids- our usual dining out is red robinesque).

Any chance of getting to the coast for a good seafood meal and a twilight walk on the beach?

Get a babysitter, but have them watch the kids at someone else's house. Then, you make her dinner at home (or buy something good through take-out), open a nice bottle of wine, give her a massage and tell her all night what a beautiful woman she is and how lucky you are to be married to her.

I don't know about anyone else but just reading that is getting me in the mood.

Junior's grampa will be in town from NY to handle child care duties. Just talked to mrs sphere, seems we forgot that Easter morning is the same weekend, so it looks like we'll be spending the afternoon and evening out, but home to sleep. Definitely won't be spending the evening with the boy and grampa in the house, so we have to vacate. That narrows the options to afternoon/evening entertainment & dinner in the DC area.

As for a gift, I think this may be perfect. Her work requires frequent courtroom testimony, so simple but elegant is what I'm shooting for, in this price range. She definitely needs a watch, so if you have any suggestions that meet the criteria, fire away.

Bought my wife a proper diamond ring (was 23 when we married). Two years later she still comes home with stories of someone complementing her on it. That is something that never gets old for either of us....don't think a nice night out or dinner is proper for 10.

That watch is bland.

I do a lot of expert witnessing and I can tell you nobody cares about your watch unless you are wearing some purple flava flav type timepiece.

Get something with a little more flair.

Already shipped. But I'm afraid you're probably right. More unisex styling than woman-specific. I'm thinking we'll be shopping for it together. We're both pretty hard to shop for in any department.

I thought you were an atheist and didn't believe in god, so why should Easter put a damper on the 10 year banging?

Plans are set. Dinner at L'Auberge Chez Francois followed by a play (1776) at Ford's Theater.

Our 10 year was a Saturday.

I bought a bunch of small presents for my wife and hid them around the house. Each gift had a clue as to where the next gift (successively larger) was. Coming up with clever rhyming clues was harder than one might expect, and the whole thing took a lot of planning.

I made her breakfast in bed, the first clue was in the card that was on the platter with the food.

We probably went out for supper than night too. I can't remember. The gift hunt was a big hit though. I think the effort went a long way to her appreciation.
