Hee ha I was wondering. Post knee surgery x 2 there is no other way I could ride w/o them. Tried all kinds of shoes, varus tweaks with Bike Fit wedges/in shoe wedges, Look/Keywin/Shimano. Finally Speedplay and I was fine. I love mine:)

Does this seem like an unusually stacked fied for a February race in Panama to anyone else?

Is it the because it's one of the first 70.3s of the season or what? There are 5-10 really big names on that list.

I would assume that the race organizer tried to get many pros from different countries for exposure.

I saw Bertrand Billard cycling at mallorca 70.3 on a what i would call a simple bike and he put some 3 minutes into Andreas Raelert at the bike leg and a few weeks later broke Steward Hays in a 5150 race.
It seems like Jesse Thomas has worked hard on his swim.

wonder what happend to leanda cave on the swim

The fact that all the pics are of Lance makes me sick. The WTC is showing its true colors in promoting the corporation and $ first and not the sport or its athletes. Why does the triathlon 'world championship' have to be owned by company that is pretends to listen to athletes concerns about PED testing and then sells itself out for big $ at the first opportunity to an individual who is still under investigation? To me it really isn't about Lance as it is about the WTC's disregard in more or less sticking the finger up at USADA saying we don't care about your investigation or concerns we are going to cash in on Lance.

Don't be a tool. The only reason this thread exists is because LA is racing in Panama today...Otherwise, the most coverage this race gets is a cursory top 3 race report on ST Monday morning...

I'm no fanboy...but LA brings a ridiculous level of attention to the sport...WTC would be stupid not to capitalize on that.

For sure, WTC is capitalizing on LA and that makes good business sense...... but I'm looking forward to the future after Lance gets humiliated and decides to do something else.

If that's what you look forward to, then you're a pretty sad man.

Most people slating the amount of exposure Lance is getting on the IM Panama coverage, wouldn't even be watching the coverage if lance wasn't racing in the race. Just goes to show the hyprocrisy in it!

It would be goodnfor triathlon if he gets humiliated. The general public will think - how old is he? So if he wins something of note it will be embarrassing.

Re: panama 70.30 race underway [exbuzz] [In reply to] Quote | Reply

That's just it. The reason why WTC can call itself a "world championship", is because we the fans/athletes expose it as the end all and be all of triathlon. We have thousands buy into the lottery every year, and we have thousands race all over the planet chasing a kona spot. So, sure WTC can call itself the world championship, but it's because the rest of us buy into it that keeps it validated.

ETA: So in the same breathe, we are complaining about WTC's coverage, when all they are doing is basically taking advantage and feeding teh mob that wants the coverage now.
