Cuz everything a rider says in a post-race interview is always true, right?

I can care less if Floyd Landis was doping or not when he came from behind, it was an amazing ride and it wouldn't be "impossible" for AC to have that type of ride tomorrow and with his TT ability he can be back on top. It's a very fat chance, but not impossible.

Well considering his performance today...or wait, should I not believe what I saw, was he just playing possum?

Andy would mark anything Contador could throw, and if they could separate from Evans, it would be playing right into the Schleck's hands. In fact, I hope that he tries it. Voeckler looks completely done

Is TV climbing much better than he has in the past, or have the others slowed more to his level?
I'm guessing some of both, just curious which factor is dominant.
I'm becoming a fan..

The climb up AdH tomorrow should be epic...

I don;t think either Evans or the Schlecks will feel comfortable with the current gap going into the TT. Evans will
want to take time out, and A&FS will want some more cushion. TV will just try to hold Evan's wheel like he did today.

I think the urgency is greater for the Schlecks... tomorrow is the chance to play their strength. I see them all coming to the
base together...then some of the old 1-2, 1-2 to try to thin the GC group. AdH is actually kind of short... I think Lance climbed it
it ~35 minutes so no huge gaps, but the brothers will want another 30-60 seconds and should attack to create that.

AC looks done - but at 4 minutes back, if he finds his legs no one can let him go. On top form he could take 2 minutes on AdH
and is probably 2 mins better on the TT. That is enough to make him interesting.

The one refreshing aspect of this TdF is the absence of RadioShack and Johan Bruyneel. Perhaps a sign that a new and cleaner era of cycling has begun.

Bruyneel's absence is refreshing. I wanted to see what Horner could do, though.

Do you post on anything that isn't related to Lance? I hope you're on the payroll of his PR organization.

Or just a sign that all of their people crashed out in a crazy first week.

or washed up riders........

Either way, - nice to see them out of contention again. Hopefully they'll try to resurrect those corpses again next year, leaving the tour pleasantly free of that wretched legacy... Maybe next year, we'll get zero Lance beer commercials...

Now all we need is for them to take 7 TDF wins away: ahhh, dreams......

??? My post had absolutely nothing to do with Lance but whether the Tour was likely clean this year. Are you always an idiot or only when responding to my posts?

I take back everything bad I said about Andy the other day.

No people, you don't get to do this. The lesson is not to say it in the first place, particularly given no one here really has a genuine clue what they're talking about when it comes to bike racing at this level.

On a separate note, it gave me the sh!ts to see no one else helping out on the hill chase. Part of me wanted Evans to sit up and say ... well f*ck you guys there goes your tour too. But then that's just racing.

The thing that got me the most was that the peleton was unable to pull back any time against a fatigued group of ~5 in the valley. I'm guessing it also had CE & co scratching their heads also...

I don't GET do to this? In what realm of reality am I not allowed to say I was wrong to call Andy a no-ball pussy? I still think he was a little whiner about the descents the last few days, but I'm not so obtuse that I can't give credit where credit is due.

I was thinking the same thing. I thought that Cadel was giving AC a free ride to attack from 7-10k. I was wrong there............Funny how many people yesterday were calling Andy a pussy ect..............Andy and Cadel suffered today more than I can imagine. Kudo's to both those guys. Is it going to be 2008 all over again with frank going over the top. ..........Cadel is not going to quit. Frank has to be fresher than everyone, and Andy needs 50 more seconds and Frank 1:40 (unless he is allowed to use his camelbac).

No. You're allowed to have a different opinion. But if you do, it's because you don't have a genuine clue what you're talking about.

I find this funny. There are plenty of football fans that know a great deal what they're talking about when they analyze a game. Same for baseball, basketball, and other sports. But cycing fans, or at least the ones here on slowtwitch, a good number of whom race competitively, don't have the slightest clue what it's about.

This has played out perfectly for the Schlecks and set up an epic final two stages. Andy is probably going to be tired from that breakaway effort but so will Cadel after that monstrous chase he did all by himself. The rest have shown that they do not have the firepower or balls to chase any breakaways so BMC will have to do it alone - hopefully some of Cadel's team mates will last a bit longer in Stage 19. I was really starting to like TV but the way his team rode (or didn't ride) to defend the yellow jersey on stage 18 was a disgrace - he said after that race that he went "all out" but that was only in the last couple of kms and he probably wouldn't have had to if his team had decided to do any work in the preceding 50km. Meanwhile Frank just sat in behind all day (as he should with Andy out front) having a nice rest and pulling out of the draft at the end to pinch a few seconds. Tomorrow is set up perfectly for a fresh Frank Schleck to take some time just like Andy did today and he will need it given he is probably the weakest time trialler in the group. Now odds on that there will be two Schlecks on the podium - well played today Leopard Trek!.

Probably a good outcome for Cadel in stage 19 will be to conserve energy and mark a more tired Andy Schleck and TV to keep the time gaps where they are, and limit any time losses to Frank to less than 2 minutes. If he goes into the Sat time trail within 1.5mins of Andy and TV, and 2mins of Frank then he still has a good chance. As we have seen wearing the yellow jersey gives people amazing powers but so does riding for it!

I definitely don't know what the fuck I am talking about, but when I hear or see andy schleck talk, I get the feeling that he is going to get swallowed up by his giant vagina. When he races the way he did today, I get the feeling that he's a superhero (who doesn't like girls much).

I think you'll see attacks by the Schlecks, but nothing big. They have potentially more to lose if an attack doesn't pan out (and one of them cracks in response to a counter) then they have to gain. At the same time, they have a little more flexibility as there are two of them. I suspect the closer to the top, the more you'll see from one of the top 4, as potential losses there will be limited. They all have good reasons to be somewhat defensive of their current standing.

Those further down on GC have less to lose from a ballsy attack and might try them sooner.
