Good chance of that too.
I'm banking on Voeckler being able to hold a tired andy's wheel.

Contador will try to pull a Flandis but it won't work as team leopard is too strong and motivated.

Leopard goes all out with the team as long as they can and Frank attacks. Maybe on the 2nd to last climb, maybe the last.

Cadel has to chase again. Voeckler stays in yellow.

Well my predictions where worth shit. But I say no team is going to want to let any team members of favourites get in the break, so it's going to be ON from the start.
Andy had a great ride, but probably hurt himself for tomorrow more than anyone.
I am just hoping for fireworks on the last climb, if not before. This is good TV.

In early June, on the same course as stage 20 iTT, Evans beat TV by 1:58. Just a reference point, I know, I know, riding in the yellow gives you great powers, etc.. Add to that, it's likely that TV will lose more time to someone in GC, and the likelyhood of him staying in yellow is still a long shot. Of course it's been said that he wouldnt have lasted in yellow past what last Friday's stage, so right now he's riding with house money.

My point is exactly that. For whatever reasons, Voeckler has hit his lifetime peak shape just about now. For that reason, to use past time trial results (such as the one from the Dauphiné) may be the same mistake as assuming the guy could not climb based on previous performance.

All while not riding his bike for 1 week leading up to the Tour.

The Frenchman admitted that he almost didn't touch his bike during the week preceding the start in Vendée, as he became a dad for the second time three days before stage 1. He also realised during stage 17 that it's worth going to reconnoiter the crucial stages in advance. Before the Dauphiné, he told Cyclingnews that he wasn't a fan of training camps in the mountains but his new status as a GC contender has made him change his mind.
"I never thought I'd be able to ride for GC and be at this level in the third week of the Tour de France," Voeckler said. "I'll have to think about that in the future. Honestly, had I done a stage reco', I probably wouldn't have been so close to losing everything. I had watched the downhill of Pra Martino on video but it's not the same.
http://www.cyclingnews.com/...r-de-france-approach

Also interesting to note, TV has had the most racing days of any of the GC guys this year. 57 racing days (I'm assuming that was counting up until yesturdays stage), 13 days more than AC.

I think that's as good a prediction as any. I suspect we'll see the usual suspects together on the final climb, and it wouldn't surprise me if nobody gets away.
(That doesn't mean, of course, that there won't be those that can't hang.) I think the top 4 like where they are right now on GC and wouldn't be too disappointed if that's where they were going into the TT. They all have something to gain from an attack, but they also all have much more to lose. I think we're more likely to see a serious attack from someone further down, like Contador, who has less to lose.

probably not a bad idea for GC contenders to take a week off before the tour, especially when there is no prolouge.

get back up to peak form the first weak instead of dropping off it.

I don't understand why everybody seems to be dismissing TV for the overall. He's in the shape of his life (for whatever reason..), he has outclimbed Contador ans stayed with Evans. If he does the same thing tomorrow, he has a great chance of staying within 1'12'' of Evans saturday. I don't care how bad the old TV used to be at time trialing, the new TV has nothing to do with the old one (kind of like Lance pre and post cancer).

Awesome ride by Andy but seriously, TV outclimbing Contador in the Alps ?????? Nobody would have taken a 100 to 1 bet on this one.

Francois in Montreal

Every day people have been saying TV will lose the jersey tomorrow. I am not counting him out until all the riders are sitting in Paris. I am cheering for Evans though because he is a mtn biker. Peraud is also doing well for a former mtn biker. Hesjedal and Danielson (who I remember being one hell of a fast junior in the New England mtn bike series in the mid 90's) are also making the mtn bike crowd proud.

I think all the usual suspects arrive at the Alpe together. Andy attacks first (and repeatedly), which Cadel has to respond to, and then Frank Counters. We get to Saturday with both Schelcks about the same on time and Cadel having to put 1:30-45 into them to take yellow to Paris.
I don't think AC does anything and just rides to the finish in the main group, maybe even losing a little more time.

That would be awesome if Contador just went out like an animal tomorrow, throwing all caution to the wind, throwing a wrench in everyone's plans and fucking with people's minds, not win, but to just go out in a blaze. The drama would keep me on the edge of my seat.

This makes sense. AC is done--he's not going to win so why make his knee injury worse by going balls-to-the-wall on AdH? I still think Cadel is in the catbird seat here.

Hats off to Andy. When I saw him looking around and knowing he had two teammates ahead for the descent and flat, I had a feeling he might go. That was just fantastic team work and awesome to watch.

I am worried Andy might be a bit worn out tomorrow, and predict that Frank toys with Evans. I think Andy might lose time though.

THe top GC guys are all fiercely competitive people. While it's true AC could be just too worn out, and call it a tour (or save up for TT win) I wouldn't be surprised to seem him try and redeem himself if he thinks he can.

Big difference between what Landis did vs. what A Schleck did. Having teammates up the rode to assist, a confused attack led by only one man and fading so much at the end indicate it was more of a tactical win for Andy than an overtly physical ride as it was with Landis where he just smashed the competition. Much improved tactics by Leopard-Trek to redeem their foibles in the Pyrenees.

Just finished watching the stage. I take back everything bad I said about Andy the other day. That was one of the gutsiest moves of the past few tours. It looks like his balls finally dropped. Kudos to Andy on an impressive performance.
