Giant Trinity Advanced SL - You Have To Be Kidding Me Quote | Reply

My LBS called Giant today to order me some arm pad risers and replacement arm rest pads. I can't believe what he was told by Giant. They said that they don't sell any individual pieces for this bike and that I would have to buy a new aero bar set to get these pieces. Are you kidding me? He asked the LBS why I needed new arm rest pads and my LBS said because my customer actually rides the bike and has worn them out. Can't believe this. Anyone have another place I can get these parts? Namely the arm rest pads

Can you switch to a different brand? On my Shiv I really didn't like the pads due to the material, so I ended up switching to Zipp pads and pad holders since I liked them on my last bike. If the bolt spacing is the same you should be able to switch to any other brand.

I tried going with the zipp pads but the bolt spacing didn't work. Don't know if there are other pads that would fit.

Are the close enough you can drill out the holes a little to make them fit? My dremel tool has been a good friend with my Shiv to my aerobars just right (obviously you need to be sure you don't remove material that is structurally necessary).

Does another brand have a similar shape to the Giant? Fizik gel ones are kind of large and generic in shape. Another option is Cee Gee. I've never used them, but they have a bunch of shapes on their website. If you can't find a match, maybe they could make some with your dimensions. Good Luck.

Don't think Cee Gee's do a replacement pad for the Giant.

I am a Giant Ambassador (road bike) for one of the stores here and also know the rep for the Province, PM me your number and I'll see if I can pull a string or two.

I agree that not having the OE pads as a replacement part is pretty silly. I have emailed the rep and also the Ambassador contact at Giant already :)

I could understand wearing out the arm rest pads... but wearing out the arm pad risers?
I ask as I ride an SL2 and was wondering what to look for as far as wear and tear (no issues here yet).

I inquired about the UCI TT kit a few weeks ago... and was told it should be available by the end of July.
Late July? They knew people wanting a UCI legal bike would need the kit, so why would the kit not to be ready until July (I received the bike in late February)?
It's no big issue for me, but I could see others being pretty choked that their UCI legal 2011 bike would not be useable until early August.

I assume this was supposed to be in pink. The risers aren't worn out but one of the benefits of a bike of this sort is the ability to vary your front end...to do this (easily) you need a variety of riser sizes. That is what I am looking for

Wow. If this is really the case, then that kills the GTA SL for me. I currently ride a Trinity, and I was thinking the SL was the next logical step, but I'm not going to play those proprietary BS games. At least Trek, Felt & Specialized make spare parts available....if expensive.

Not familiar with these arm rests, but Fizik makes some gel pads that are customizable (is that really a word?). You may have to get creative. But, I think I would contact Giant and find out if the LBS had their story straight. If true, it certainly does seem like overkill.

Good luck.

From Giant re pads:

Quote:
18 pairs in stock – SVC part number 1830-CG12LR-A01 - 10 Trinity ADV SL Arm pad pair - $SRP is up to the dealer but they’re quite affordable

Will check on the risers. Can you actually get risers? Are you asking for replacements, are there any options? If so which ones are you after. I know the stem comes in three heights, should be with the bike when purchased.

I am not sure of the bike front setup so let me know and I will chase for you.

My SL2 came stock with 3 nose cones (+40 mm, flush and -40 mm), 2 sets of arm pads and a ton of riser options (anywhere from 10mm to 40mm).
Did you pick up the bike second hand, or did the dealer not provide you with the large goodie box?

The high cone + 40mm spacers to the low cone with 0 spacers gives you 120mm of stack adjustment.
That isn't enough?

I've made my own buy cutting an old mouse pad - works really good (and not slippery).

I was looking up the dimensions of the handlebar for this bike. You see we make aerobar pads. We have quite a few people requesting pads for the Giant Trinity bike.

We will make custom pads for this bike if we have not already made them. Our pads use strong velcro so you can take them off to wash them. They are also very comfortable. If you are interested in finding some good quality aerobar pads (22 years in the making) come visit our website or write us with the dimensions of the old pad.

If you would like us to make the pads for you (Trek), just send us the dimensions of the arm rest, a picture, or both. We might already have pads to match it.

Just send your e-mail to this address: ceegees89@gmail.com

We would love to hear from you.
