Need Advice on location to rent in AZ..

We are 27 & re-locating for my husbands job to the scottsdale/tempe/phoenix area. We are lost when it comes to choosing where to live. We are expecting a baby this fall... we like to get out & have fun but also like a safe & reasonable rent location. He will work from home & travel around the area so we can pick where we live!! Any suggestions is greatly appreciated!! Thanks :)

Hi Amy. I recently posted that very same question, so you might want to search for that post on the main tri page. From what I am told, with a family, the Gilbert area is great for that, but I'm looking there too. There are some amazing deals I might add. Hope this helps.

East Mesa is a great area for outdoor activities, proximity to stuff (shopping, eating, hospitals, etc), and is safe depending on the area.
NW is nice but crowded.
NE is nice but expensive. Great cycling and running.
South in Ahwatukee or that area is ripe with athletes, too.
Post this in tri forum and you'll get more info.

Welcome to the Valley of the Sun and congrats on your new baby. I would highly recommend Chandler and a particular area to be exact. It is actually around the Dobson and Germann area. Clemente Ranch is a large community there, but there are two new develops that are offering brand new homes if your interested in that. But, many great used homes for sale in the surrounding neighborhoods that are all newer homes.
It is a newly developed area, close to wide open spaces and roads if your into cycling. Your next to the highway access to 101 north and 202 east/west that takes you right to Tempe, Scottsdale, Phoenix etc in minutes. A great mall is very close, Chandler Fashion Center and the area is close to the new technology corridor, where Intel, Ebay, Paypal, Orbital and many other great companies are located. Lots of young families in the area, with great schools and neighborhoods. Several new restaurants have just opened up and are awesome.
So, that is my two cents and I really hope this helps. I know exactly how overwhelming it can be when moving to a new city. Been there!
Best of luck to you.

Thank you very much for all the feedback! It was very helpful. We ended up renting a townhouse in Scottsdale(North). Lots of trails and riding out here. But, I have to say, Rodney, I have heard nothing but great things about Chandler. That may be the place we buy a home. :) So, thank you!!
Thanks again everyone & take care!

Glad my info might have helped. My wife and I love where we live and have had opportunities to move to other parts of the valley and stayed where we are at. Well, if you come to this side of town or you become active in the Run, Bike or Swim community, we just might run into you. Feel free to contact me by replying and we can send you our contact info directly if your interested. We love meeting new people, especially new to the Valley. But, not sure if you have been here during the summer, but be ready. Just saying... Best of luck to you!
