Honestly I am surprised out the outrage of people here. Ask anyone who has competed seriously in swimming and theyll tell you they peed in the pool. At the pool I go to, I have not seen anyone get out of the pool to pee, Im the only one who ever gets out to pee, and I go 5 days a week. Also someone brought up showering before entering the pool, I never do that either, even if I just ran and am sweaty, the pool is like a big bath tub. The Only time I ever showered before entering a pool was in Japan cause I got yelled at by the life guard and they take that stuff seriously over there. Showering before entering the pool isnt something most competitive swimmers do either.
As for peeing on the go its difficult for me to maintain, kinda comes out in spurts, might take 3 spurts and a whole lap.

The government has announced today that since so many Americans are happy to swim in other peoples pee that from next week they are going to cease managing water quality for watre that is used for bathing. This water will be provided by the sewage treatment workd and will be diluted down to an acceptbale level of other peoples urine. Of course drinking water will still be provided to the regular quality levels. This program will save 1 billion over 4 years and Americans fully support it as they already enjoy bathing in other peoples pee.
As for not showering before you get in the pool, did you ever think that maybe there was a reason for this, of course not somebody just said I'll make those swimmers shower becasue that will inconviencience them and make my day. Think of somebody else other than yourselves for once

I don't want to freak any of you uriphobics out, but right before a race when everyone is standing around up to their waist in the water...all peeing. And any fish you see while swimming in open water? Peeing. Those cute little ducks swimming around in your lake? Not only peeing, but shitting also. And you are putting your face in it...

Dude, take it easy. Yes there are for sure some people who should shower before entering, the pool has tasted like curry before. But I dont because it is weird to me after 21 years of swimming to start showering before entering not for me. I want to know how many people swam USA and showered everytime or at before getting in the pool? Maybe I should try to be dirty to discourage people from jumping in my lane? Lastly unfortunately I veiw the pool as my domain and am just not considerate towards others who I feel dont respect the swimmers etiquette (swimmers etiquette has nothing to do with the pool rules).
*Spell check doesnt recognize USA lol

The shitting thing good point had a duck poop in the pool and its cloudy underwater, we had to keep swimming anyway in the pool.

When I was 12 my family was visiting relatives with a pool. My mom warned my sister and I that there was a chemical in the water that turned bright green if you peed. Bad idea to tell me that. As soon as I got in i let a little go, I figured if it turned green it would dilute quickly and noone would notice. When i realized she was just trying to stop me from peeing in the pool I let loose. I must have peed 10 times in that pool in a couple of days to get my revenge.

You do realize there is a HUGE, nay, virtually incalculable difference, between bathing in raw sewage in someone taking a whiz in the pool, right?
And that it's not like we all jump in the pool daily SOLELY to piss in your cheerios. But if we're in there, and we have to go...go.
Do you know how much pee you swim through at the start of a triathlon? And goose shit. And lawn chemicals. And decomposing flesh form dead animals (and probably a person or two). And...
Seriously, if you have this much trouble with a little sterile liquid dispersed in thousands and thousands of gallons of cholrinated water, how on earth do you leave your bubble and saran wrapped house every day?

Fair point and look I get it people pee and the number of parts per million of pee is of no consequence and the lakes and rivers we swim in are far more polluted. I for the record will continue to pee in the toilet. I do howver have no issue with peeing in the ocean (wildly inconsistent).
Why the moving back from my previously aggressive stance on this issue, well you brought up swimmers etiquette. I wouldn happily swim in a pool 25 % piss just to get the majority of people to follow swimmers etiquette. I left the pool in sheer frustration the other night as no matter what lane you were in etiquette was ignored.
As for being to intense on the pee issue and wanting to fight people, I offer up the Defence of being from Scotland

"Ask anyone who has competed seriously in swimming and theyll tell you they peed in the pool."
This has been alluded to several times in this thread. Guess what? That doesn't make it OK, it only tells us something about the character of competitive swimmers. As to the the "dilution factor", one person peeing in the pool, maybe not that big of a deal. Hundreds of people peeing in the pool each day, not that diluted. This is the same mentality as the average litter-bug, "one little wrapper / cigarette butt / beer bottle in the bike lane, etc, won't hurt. Besides, I'm too lazy to put the trash (pee) where it belongs" Give me break with this crap....

You are like MSNBC spin shit way outa porportion and put words in my mouth. If you dont like the thread GTFO. Let me show you what you sound like "As to the the "dilution factor", one person peeing in the pool, maybe not that big of a deal" well same thing goes a for litterbug your one person no big deal. Sounds like you are calling the kettle black. Give me a f*cking break peeing in the pool is not at all like disreguarding safety. Watch out Ill pee twice in the pool which wont make it ok for Mr.Blonde.
*EDIT: The point on the competitive swimmer thing isnt that its ok, its that there are a lot of people who do it, not like a couple, a lot.
**EDIT: "At the pool I go to, I have not seen anyone get out of the pool to pee, Im the only one who ever gets out to pee, and I go 5 days a week." Not obvious but I do get out to pee just not all the time. So I guess I half litter like Mr.Blonde implies.

pee in the pool, that is. seems like i never see anybody else climb out in the middle of a work-out, even after an hour or more.....Completely different in open water, i think, but it shouldn't happen in a pool !
Sometimes I go to the pool solely to take a piss.
I can't remember the last time I was in any body of water and didnt cut loose. Except maybe the plastic baby pool with my two year old as that seemed a little gross with only about 8 ounces of water in that thing to begin with.

Assuming:
120,000 Gallon Pool
100 people per day peeing
800mL of pee/person (which is a lot of pee)
The pool will be about 0.018% pee.

You do know that urine is sterile, right
This quote comes up all the time in these threads.
Urine is only sterile until it reaches the urethra, at which point it picks up any bacteria that are flourishing there.
However, these threads are a good source of entertainment as we subject ourselves to much worse on a daily basis. It's akin to people being shocked and disgusted at the "double-dipper" at the cocktail party, only to hook up with her later and willingly perform oral sex on her!

Ok guys and gals. Those of you who think pee is sterile and ok to whiz in the pool. Come to my house and I will pee on your head any time. Or better yet you like drinking a golden shower.? Bring it on. My old swim coach used to have a nice bucket full of water before college swim classes. He would have the nasty looking guy put his ass in the bucket, then ask the prettiest girl to put her face in the same bucket. And that folks is why we shower before entering the pool and don't piss in it. My ass goes where your face goes next. Thank you very much.

Besides, you can smell everything that goes on in a pool. The water near the girls' locker room (where the girls usually enter the water) stinks of perfume, and the side by the guys' locker room is B.O. central. If you pee in the pool, you had better be very hydrated to get away with it.
I guarantee if you've swam in a pool where a swim team practices you've swam in a *lot* of urine...
... a lot.
