Just re-watched the finishing sprint...Simon knew Frodeno was there - he checked over his shoulder 4 times! But he couldn't get rid of him. Then Frodeno made his move and Simon knew the tank was empty.

Still, that was electrifying, and the happiest I have ever been with a silver medal!

Go Canada!

Speaking of shoulder-checking, did anyone notice that Frodeno NEVER shoulder checked. He had the gold, could have checked and cruised it in the final 20 metres, but kept his eyes forward and pushed it all the way in.

Awesome

In the CBC interview with him last night, Colin said he was more interested in watching Simon's finish on the jumbotron than getting across the line himself. I thought that was very cool, such a selfless attitude. I'm a big fan for sure.

Can't wait for Colin's update, plus we should have a Simon Whitfield feature soon.

What an amazing race and I could not be happier for Simon. There is nothing wrong with Silver and I am sure that will drive him for another 4 years.

They can all forget gold in London 2012, the IOC may as well present the medal to Brownlee now, he will be untouchable in four years.

Nearly a year since this thread and it is all looking good for AB. Just have to hope he stays injury free.

I agree with you up to a point, that is why I said I hope Alistair stays injury free and part of me worries he is peaking too early but I think what he is doing now at age 21 is not exactly comparable to what Kemper, Kahlefeldt were doing in 2005, they were already pretty mature athletes.

He has still got a lot of growing to do and 'should' get faster and he is already swimming with Potts, pushing the bike and then outrunning Gomez.

I donno - I think a lot of his run speed is there precisely because he hasn't yet done all his growing... he is TINY. He must weigh 130 lbs. If you look at the pictures of him running with Gomez and Petzel, compare their leg thickness. I think once Gomez is back to 100% running fitness in one or two months there are going to be some seriously epic running duels between the two!

Prediction is still looking good, three years on.

Exactly four years since I wrote this and there were a lot of doubters. Really delighted to be in Hyde Park today to see AB deliver on my prediction.

The New Specialized Wind Tunnel
Will this be a game changer for Specialized, in both sales and product design, or will it not move the sales and design needle versus those in Specialized's competitive set?
Yes, Game Changer
Minor move forward
Won't budge the needle
