Good call on Gerrans!

Wouldn't it be awesome if he and Valverde end up sprinting head-to-head (for the 3rd time this year)?

i want to see him beat the crap out of piti.

Brabantse Pijl is now live on steephill.tv, and holy crap, Gilbert is sitting at the 9th position! Probably his best position the entire day ;)

fourth ain't bad

Phil Gil is showing better form, though he grimaced a lot today on the climbs. 12th in a 2.HC race is his best showing in a race thus far. Maybe, just maybe, he'll get good enough for L-B-L

Still going GvA for Amstel, with Evans as dark horse

I'm not too proud of the Piti episode, but still a Valverde fan, ever since he beat LA at Courchevel (2005?).

Gilbert a bit of a disapointment today. Didn't even make the second group.

We better watch out for Voeckler this coming week. He was 8th at Flanders, which is why I called him out upthread. Still surprised to see him win today, but he's on form and will be animating the upcoming races. Un baroudeur par excellence!

Oh, and to bring up a couple of other guys here - Rodriguez will, as usual, be right up there this week. Sam. Sanchez will be, too, but only if he makes the trip north - apparently he is not a confirmed starter.

Love this week of races.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Cunego(I don't think he's crashed or anything?. He hasn't been terrible or great this season so far, but decent results early in the year. These one day hilly punchy races have always suited him a lot better than stage races.

If Horner races he will not be Top 10 in any, I would bet on that.

He hasn't really shown the ability to stick with Rodriguez and Sanchez when they make their explosive attacks.

13. roads were too wet & weather was bad on a sunny day (which relates to option 1)

Horner is on the starting list on Steephill.tv

Because 10 or more guys will beat him. He wasn't all that impressive at Basque (10th overall) and the competition here will be incredibly strong. I think his strength will be in stage racing moving forward.

The bookies agree with me, he has 33:1 odds for the win. http://www.bookies.com/...el-gold-race/winner/

Horner's season is pretty remarkable so far in my opinion if you factor in the issues he had with clotting after his concussion from the TDF wreck. He hasn't had that many race days yet and has definitely been in the game but is lacking the punch to seal the deal. I wouldn't vote on him for any of the Ardennes races either but I think his form is impressive considering everything.

1. Purito
2. Valverde
3. Sanchez
4. Hesjedal
5. Voeckler

That's a bit different than saying he won't make top 10 in any of the three races. Besides, for Amstel Gold the bookies rate him as having a better chance than Frank or Andy. Would you rather RS just stay home?
