First of all, thanks for pointing that out. You are right. With apologies to sponsors not showcased on that photo, here is my defense:
Actually it's an antique (circa early 90's) Specialized Trispoke with handling issues, and the Zipp disk was a gift from my wife. The trispoke won't be used anymore, and the disk, well, I'm not sure hurting my wife's feelings are worth pleasing a sponsor at any cost. Anyway, it's an old photo, and spinergy just came on board. (Sorry Paul Cusick).
WRT the spinergy's, I'm in love with them. I have had them on my road bike ever since I got them, and I must say that they got it right. The value to performance ratio of the Spinergy Tilium SS is really amazing. I know that Spinergy has had the crap knocked out of them in the past by bad press, but they have listened and have produced a GREAT wheel.

shoe guru, pink bike painter, hot girlfriend having boy toy, what else is there:) Glad I didn't post the other pic... wouldn't you all like to know;) btw, since footballmom brought it up I think she beat lokelani in swimsuit (they are friends) and she'll be doing Kona this year for the first time. we did a race on a marine core base, lots of military guys, a couple of weeks ago. Most of them remembered her from the year before (I wonder why), and before the race she had all these guys saying hi to her and comments like, "i wonder how many minutes she'll beat me by?," " she won't get me till the run." It was pretty funny.
There are lots of great tri girls out there. I doubt I'm the only one with a great girlfriend or who knows a great looking tri female.

yes it is. My girlfriend's parents live in Las Cruces, and that picture was taken last May at her sisters wedding reception at some museum of some sort that is just up the street from their house.

Photos must be hosted somewhere-you cannot link from a photo saved in your computer. Right-click and "copy image location" which you paste after clicking the little picture icon (only in Advanced Editor). This works for IE but not Mozilla yet.

I kind of thought that, that you both did the same big races. Makes a lot of sense, built in training partners. You can see the entry list at

Actually before the race started, I was rushing around like usual to get to my swim wave in time. I start out with my shoes already clipped in to my pedals. In the mist of rushing around, I clipped my left shoe into my right pedal and right shoe into my left pedal.
So I did the whole 56 miles barefoot. I didn't want to loose any time..
ONly kidding....but the story IS true though. I stopped to swith shoes right as I pulled out of T1..

Yeah I'd like to get those women into triathlon. They could start a whole new tri-suit fad. A Red Dress Party is a Valentine's Day tradition I started a few years ago; it's a natural evolution from the Hash House Harrier "Red Dress Run" theme. Party attire guidelines are: guys in red dresses (triathletes have no problem with this, as the guys are usually exhibitionists and happy to show off their shaved legs) and the women are encouraged to go towards the red lingerie theme. The picture that Hid posted was shot during the always popular "best dressed couple" contest. As host, I felt it only proper that I declare those two women ineligible for the award as they should have been in the "Elite" division instead of the mere mortal "age group mixed" division (but I let them put on a demo for quite awhile). By the way, if you look carefully, you will spot Tai and Miss Hawaii 1999 in that party (in other photos).

gotta love those no-mow-lawns.....aggies at the UofG up here in the frosty north are developing a straing of lawn grass that only grows to a uniform height of three inches and then dies off beyond that height...not sure if I find that really cool or very very sad (that we have so much free time as to develop such a thing)

Seriously, spending the time/money on developing a grass that grows to a uniform height and stops would have tremendous positive enviromental impact. Greatly reduce the fossil fuel consumption and emissions from all the lawnmowers. Also, more time to train.

among other things. My girlfriends father is a history buff and he always gives me the story about who was shot there, what was signed there, what President visited there etc. I'm always in for some sort of history lesson when I go visit.

You have nothing to be ashamed of considering this makes you a member of the elite ~5% group - ie, that group of approximately 5% of Americans I always hear about who put down the remote control and actually get off the couch in order to conduct some form of routine, repetitive exercise! No scientificly derived statistics, but I imagine that simply competing in a duathlon or triathlon would put you in an even more elite group since I imagine that less than 2% (~) of the population will ever complete the commitment to compete in such events.

Unlike BOZ I’m fully clothed has these photos show while taken at the inaugural Disney half IM in May. On the bike I’m jamming up a small hill and suffering in the Florida heat on the run. Managed a 4:50 for my first half.

yup, IM AZ for next Spring. I am doing the CAF Ironman in Hawaii this August, just started swimming again a couple of weeks ago. I'm not too worried about the swim though, I did a 60:xx at Canada last year with similar training, although I think the course was a bit short there.
I'll probably be heading your direction this winter to train on the course a couple of times. I'll let you know so we can hook up.
You still going to Utah in July?

They may have gotten photos of you but because your number was on your back how could they identify you? You're supposed to wear your number on the front during the run so volunteers and officials can identify you as you're running towards them, not away from them.

This is at about mile 20 in the LA Marathon this year, it was 90 degrees in the shade...and there wasn't any shade.

No -- I paged through the "lost and found" pics. In addition to the fact I don't like having my number flop around in the front, I also like wearing it in the back to make my pictures harder to identify. I'm actually quite phobic about having my picture taken.

Brightroom does a pretty good job. They have a couple photographers and take a lot of pics. I was fortunate to be in the first wave and near the front, so they got a lot of me. I even got a couple of good swim and transition pics.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. You look great! I too am not "young and buff," but we're out there, aren't we? I look at my peers, the real point of comparison, and wonder if any of them actually DO anything at all besides watch someone else play a game of some sort on TV. Freestyle, when all I did was run and martial arts I had dropped down to 123 lbs. I love the size I've gained (160 lbs now) from being involved with triathlon. Now if I can just get my run pace back to what it was!
Some shots from Vineman; I got food poisoning two days before so but still had a decent time.
Yes, the possition has changed a lot since this shot (I'm going to do a write up on PK Racing and my fit experience)

Me, after first Century Ride, about a year ago.
GF, who, after months of hard training, we now call "The Kenyan"
GF, at St. Anthony's.
The swim start is a great place to take pictures. Notice all the different expressions--concentration, trepidation--and then there is freakin' GF with a freakin' smile like she is not in pre-panic mode, which she is. She's too good for me.

I tried the past 2 years! WKA championships this summer. More of a kickboxing organization than true Muay Thai, but it was what the promoter set-up You take the matches you can get. Not a lot of women in the sport.

nope.. not a sports bra.. its just been pushed up.. i tend to overheat, so in my opinion more skin = less heat.
Spain was actually 103-5 F on the run course.. i took back 1.5 L on the bike.. and water at every aid station (they only had cups.. and aid stations every 2.5 km) and when I finished, was able to drink 3 L of gatorade.. and not go to the bathroom.. thats how dehydrated I was due to the heat. Needless to say, it was also my slowest 10 k ever.
I really want to get one of those orca swim tops.. but havn't been able to find one.. i just got this new hind top, which seems like it can breath than my sugoi tops.. so hopefully that'll help.

They boys are doing well. Elliot is riding for Main Line I think, and is kicking some serious butt. His old man is still a wicked fast bike rider. I had the honor of trying to break up the train with those two in the wheelman cup, Elliot won the final sprint, so you can see how well I did. The races are getting tougher, and there are more riders. The wheelman cup may have a 4th team next year. WilkesBarre Velo has resurfaced and they participated this past year. Hope to see you out there next year. Fitness doesn't matter in March races, pain threshold does!

Yeah, muscles, while they may look "cool" or "mucho macho" they also are some kind of overweight and make you slow. There was a thread about overall physical built of triathletes some time ago where someone was unhappy with his physical appearance and was obviously lacking some muscles. I laughed when I read this. I've done some other sports for twenty years and have lots of upper body muscle mass - I'm a clydesdale with very low body fat - but still a heavy clydesdale and overweight with muscles. I'd like to get rid of some kilogramms but that seems impossible.

I'm in the same boat brother! I raced clydesdale a few years back - 205 pounds reasonably lean. Two years of IM training and racing and I'm down to 185. The trick for me was stopping weightlifting entirely and doring long runs. Realistically I would like to be at 175 pounds, but seemed to have hit the wall. Funny from your pics, you do not look like a clyde. You must be quite tall.

Right now I have 2 bikes, no, three: A Cervelo R2.5 with Record 10 and compact cranks, A Cervelo P3SL with Dura-Ace 10 and FSA Carbon Pro Team Issue cranks and new Visiontech one piece integrated carbon aerobars and a Fisher Montare sport utility bike which I am about to ride home from work.
The aerobars in the picture of me on the Col de Vence at the Nice Triathlon in September are new Hed Clip Lights with prototype elbow pads. Super light, Super nice.

hmmmm...not sure. sometimes i see a few godd looking guys on the loveland bike trail. but really it's more uncommon to see a drop dead guy like that. if i did, i would probably walk into a wall from gawking, or drive my car into a building. the first time i saw paul o'neil in person i nearly collapsed (you should see him do pull ups, or preacher curls. DAMN!!!)
