I was thinking about this race for the first time in four years in SoCal, but I guess I'll do SuperFrog instead. I just wish SoCal had a few more Half-IM races from which one could choose.

Re: now Oceanside is sold out [jpflores] [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm in again next year. Despite the cold water and a number of years with cold weather I keep coming back to this race as it always provides some of the most competitive racing in So. Cal. It is also a couple weeks later next year so that should help the water temps, although with a wetsuit I never found it to be that bad after the first minute or so.

See you all out there.

I muddled my way through the cold swim, but then thoroughly enjoyed the ride and run. Although it was very tempting to stop running and go lay on the beach!!

I'm in again for next year.

Now if I could just hit the "register" button for TTT...

I'm going to do both again this year. Last year, Superfrog was the weekend AFTER O'side, which I wish was the case again, but it's not to be. The open-ocean swim for Superfrog in late March should be fun!!!

I'm planning on the SuperSeal/Oceanside double...after running in a Superfrog relay last summer, I'm pretty sure that racing Superfrog would blow up my chances for a decent finish at oceanside. That sand is BRUTAL!!

I am in. It will be my first race back after taking 2008 off from competition. I'm already not looking forward to that run. That cement surface at Oceanside is rough. I am seriously thinking of buying a pair of Nike Shox running shoes just for that race.

JP, the run course for the '08 Superfrog was MUCH easier than the prior years (the year you did it). Only about 300 yards of soft sand running in the entire 1/2 marathon. The rest of the sand running was all hardpacked sand.

Holy cripe!!! For several years it sold out in early Jan, then, suddenly, last year it was November. I can't believe it's already sold out.

They have a lot of spots for other races. Clearwater, Canada, Lake Placid, Kona….does anyone know the numbers for each per age group or does it depend on how many are in each age group??

It is never crowded along the extra mile!!!!

Have you ever given SuperFrog a shot? It is the week before Oceanside. Fun race with a good bunch of people. Too bad that the sand run is basically gone.

My daughter lives in SF and I have a place to stay in Santa Rosa, so it's not bad. Until my calf wouldn't get better, I was going to do it this year.

I thought it was later, but I'll have to give that some consideration.
