whats the best power meter for someone using osymetric chain rings and already has a carbon clincher for a rear wheel (no powertap or similar hub)? Is a pedal based unit better or is it worth it to exchance the hub for a hub based power meter? keep in mind, I have one bike and multiple wheel options

I am cautiously optimistic regarding the Powertap P1 pedals. Though a quarq should be fine even with your placebo rings.

This is only n=1 but I have a teammate running a Quarq with "mechanic's wrath" Q-rings and power numbers are hilariously high-like 10% or more. Maybe that's an anomaly but talk about a placebo!

1. So you have 11 hours for swim / bike training. You're good on the bike, ok on the swim and not so good on the run. 5 hours swim / 7 hours bike. A 2 hour swim session + 3 x 1 hour sessions. A 2:40:00 spirited bike, a 2:00:00 tempo intervals bike, a 1:20:00 threshold session and a 60:00 threshold session.

You failed at the maths. How can I take any of your other answers seriously? (pink)

43, bitch.

42 is it not? (I assume we're referencing Douglas Adam's "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"). Not to split hairs, but if so I wouldn't want to let you go through the rest of your life not knowing.

I've got a real one.

How many swimmers / what percentage of swimmers you have coached who did their first competitive swim training of any kind after 22 years old can you personally attest to having swam 500 yards in 7:00 or better, or 400 scm in 6:08 or better?

How many who began after 30?

Maybe 25%, but possible for most.

Do you know how to post a link properly? Don't go running to DD or AC for the answer...

Also, are you sticking with that answer?

Hi Dave,
I am looking to get more Aero on my bike. I live in the Uk so unfortunately don't have access to DD's Aero camp. My options are:

1. Go to a wind tunnel. £1000 for 2 hours. Seriously? There has to be a cheaper option.

2. Get to Newport velodrome: http://www.aero-coach.co.uk/ £350 for 2 hours. A lot of money but affordable. I don't know how much I can get out of it in 2 hours and I can't verify how good the guy is.

3. Other options? I'm no scientist. I like to analyse numbers but Anything beyond high school maths is going to stump me.

Any advice?

Thanks,
Will

Have you used Golden Cheetah's Aerolab yet. I'd suggest some early mornings when it's not very windy to get some data before heading to Newport. They're very good I believe, but it might be more valuable if you have at least some 'understanding' before you go.

Hi Will,

AeroCoach is now using the Alphamantis Track Aero System in Newport, and the prices are a little higher than the above. The ability to track your CdA live out on track provides scope for a huge quantity of data, at extremely high accuracy. Some more info on our Facebook and Twitter pages here:

Our August slots are filling up fast so if you want one then you need to be quick. We are very good at what we do.

thanks

Last big shave down was during the last week of May. Racing this weekend and have a 'moderate' level of regrowth.

Should I do another shave down when temps are calling for low of 9C/48F and high of 22C/74F?
