Interesting.
Roughly comparing pages 58 and 75, the disks have averagely 4 Watts
less than the spokewheels, which could be translated in 0,3 km/h, which means
3 minutes on 180 km. This is a figure I heard before.

There's a reason I've been hoarding a huge stock of Veloflex Record 20mm tubs... ;)

Quoting myself the following question arises:

If you're sitting on the couch studying the results of an ironman you just did, would
you pay $ 1000 to adjust the list slightly such that your time is 3 minutes faster? ...

Interesting that the drag increase with going with a wider tire is significant. It makes the researcher conclude that there is never a good reason to go to a wider tire.

I wouldn't be so fast to dismiss a wider tire. You always have to factor in crr + cda + yaw.

Put a Sworks Turbo Cotton on a well designed disc like the Zipp CC or Hed Jet on a frame that shields the rear wheel well such as the P5/NP3/NP2 and you'll see better results than narrow tubes.

I would not necessarily, but the data presented appears compelling.

I think combined translational and rotational drag.
Plus, the researcher states that they have more rolling resistance.

I was thinking power to rotate portion might go up with wider tire due to more skin friction
