We made a few more than we needed, so we can sell those for $99 shipped.

ST'ers will get a $10 discount. Only Shimano cranks for now though.

We spent quite some time over the tooth design and reduced friction without sacrificing grabbing power. Fun stuff.

IMHO $45/watt isn't too bad.

Damon mentioned something about removing the front derailleur and braze on tab saved almost as many watts as an aero downtube. So there is that also. Worth probably a a lot more than just the chainring. I think I could get away with it for some races, but other races and training around here (Asheville) I'd be pretty screwed!

No idea
Only data point I know of is in here:
http://sheldonbrown.com/...ero/aerodynamics.htm

But since I have no idea if that involved a solid chainring, or aero crank arms, or an aero spider, it is kind of useless

Plus: you can make it aero as hell, and light too

Re-directing.

How aero is aero as hell for rings? Doing research on this forum and the internet in general, it's awfully hard to find data. This is about the best I could find. 2-3W.

I'm sort of mulling switching from SRAM Red normal rings to the SRAM aero rings, but the normal rings already look sort of aero-ish. Not sure there's much payoff there.

Reviving this thread, I thought it was interesting to see Rappstar going single ring:

On this note, I did get an update from Friction Facts - the magazine didn't produce the rings for testing, but they tested it anyway. The wattage loss of going to a wide/narrow chainring was minimal: less than a 1/10 of a watt. I would hope the lack of a derailleur and some exposed shifter cable will make up for that...

I've been running my Wolftooth 50T for about a month now. I really like it. I should take some pictures...
