Maybe I'm luckier than I thought that my pool is only closed Thanksgiving day, Christmas day, and New Year's Day.

Today's swim (12/30):
500ez
5x100 50dr/50swim
20x50 (2x5kick,5 pull)
Main Set:
4x100 overkick free on 1:30
800 hard on 12:00
4x100 bk/br on 2:00
800 descend by 200s on 12:00 with paddles

100ez cd

4500scy

Was pretty tired after yesterdays hard swim and weights. My lats today were pretty wasted and the 800 w/paddles was ugly. Going to bike later today.

A 20yd slash bucket sounds soooo funnnn!

I finally got in to see my PT after some insurance issues. He worked me. All previous work to loosen my hamstrings has been lost since surgery. Starting from scratch and it hurts.
My sister and I planned a morning ocean swim, buut when we got there it was a bit blown out and chilly (for SoCal) so we drove back home and hit our respective pools/

1000s
5x100 various kicks

5x100@2:00 alt bk/br
10x50@1:00 :30/31/32/31/31/33/32/32/30/30.5
5x100 s/k/cool

Pool is closed tomorrow, so to ring in the new year
115 x 50 @ :55 various strokes, kick pull, swim. Mostly free though.

For the logic behind the 115 number, this was a set that we did back in the 80's and 90's, but as 100's rather than 50's. So Jan 1 1992 would have been 92 x100.

No way I could do that as 100's right now. Maybe next year. Edit - well, I could do it. It would be messy though.

I like the 115x50s idea. Was thinking about doing 100x100s tomorrow (would be first time since 12/31/01) but I fear 30mph gusts and 40°F temps might sap my motivation in the morning...

5,000scy Tuesday pm:
800 WU
5x200 @ 2:40 paddles
10x100 @ 1:20 swim
20x50 @ :50 paddles all strong
5x(100 back kick w/ 15yd breakouts @ 1:20 + 4x25 drill/ fast fly @ :25) w/ fins
200 cd

the 115 x 50 is pretty good, IMO. long enough that you feel it by the end (for those of us who usually do 2500-3000 per workout, that's double our usual metres), but still doable.

On a side note, I went to the doctor yesterday for a physical and got weighed. I'm up to 208# !! Woo hoo, only 12 more to go to race weight, (I think you need to be 220 to qualify as a clyde?). my waist size has actually dropped throughout the year, so I'm pretty sure that's all muscle weight. which is fine for what I do, no IM's in my near future.

I am visiting Bend, OR... (Where it is 0 degree F)... I hear there is a 115x100m happening tomorrow! With birthday cake at the end. (It is everyone's birthday according to the swim rules). Sounds fun.

New Year's Eve, closed out my year with a long set (for me). Next year, I'll try to hit 100x100, but 6000scy was enough for me today.

1000s/50k
900p/50k
Alternate all the way down for 6k total

Just read about a 100x100 relay in the UK early last year.

You might regret it on a few of the Epic Dartmouth bike hills or if it happens to be 33 degrees for the run that day. ;)

I did 30 x 50 on :45 in the pool this morning - that's close to 115 right? /pink. The swim team was hogging the pool (doing 100 x 100) so I had to share a lane with a couple of lane floaters for a while.

yeah, that would suck.

I don't try to manage my weight. Been there, done that, was miserable throughout. I'm just gona train and see how I do at whatever weight I am at the time. Pool's closed today and tomorrow, so tomorrow is a good time to start running. Don't think I'll make it too far, just planning on 15 minutes. whatever that is, maybe 3 miles? ;-)

No 100x100s for me today, sadly. The pool "has been closed on December 31, 2014 due to low pool temperatures, as well as pump circulation issues caused by high wind and debris." Might do your 115x50s next week in a LCM pool (no way could I do the full 10km long course without my arms falling off).

Wrapped up my year with a solid session with my PT followed by this swim:
2000s
5x100 various kicks
10x100alt bk/br@2:00 fr@1:30 fr- 1:09/08/06
5x100 s/k cool

4000 sc yardages
Happy New Year (no New Years Day freak swim for me. I might try for an epic hot tub sit if I can get the temp juuuust right)

Ten mile run today and 30 min on the stair master. Better luck next year for me hitting 365 miles. I looked to see if I could do Canadian masters logging, since they get more prizes, but they send the prizes to club teams, not individuals (so says the website) so I'd have to be registered with a Canadian masters team...

Finished the year with 838,000 meters, about 520 miles. Going on 59, I might let that be a lifetime PB and focus on a little more focused work. Sure was fun to chase though! Happy New Year!
