I witnessed a current under the bridge during the Olympic that had some of the stragglers in at least one wave on tread mill of sorts... they'd swim, swim, swim and get no where. They'd stop and lose a few yards until they moved over a bit towards the rocks. There does appear to be some currents in the bay there although I couldn't make heads or tails of them. It was all glassy water either... buy my wave time on Sunday I found it to be choppy. All that said, water conditions and times could be variable based on a few things.

Otherwise, keep swimming and spend some time in a wet suit.
