Knee Pain From Cycling
I have been having this pain below my patella and a tenderness on the lateral part of my left knee, and it started when I was finishing a long ride. I was pedaling when suddenly I felt a sharp pain on the lateral part of my left knee where the tenderness currently is. Now when I walk I feel a slight weakness in my knee and it becomes worse when I cycle. However, when I run, the pain almost completely subsides. I had a marathon this past weekend and was able to run the entire thing without once complaining about any pain in my knee.

This seems pretty odd to me, so I was wondering what anyone thinks this might be. Thanks!

I was having similar issues of knee pain on the bike, and while it is not an exact science, this article helped me narrow some things down, or at least where to start looking. http://www.fix-knee-pain.com/cycling-knee-pain/
I have adjusted the cleat position on my shoes, seat height, and most currently, I am trying a saddle that is narrower. I think it is a lot of trial and error (and research). Good luck!

I had the same issue a few months back, but it soon began to hurt when I ran. Turns out I had IT band syndrome and osteoarthritis. After a few injections, my knee is good to go. I would definitely have an orthopedic surgeon check it out if it continues. And I would also adivse on strecthing out your IT band before doing any activity.
