Externally lugged carbon is old technology. The system six is better. Or a Giant; one piece frame makes more sense.

They look nice. My gripe with Cannondale is that they seem to add a top of the line bike every other year.

Kudos to them for using round seatposts.

I have gone on a couple of longer rides on Super 6's. Great bike. My only complaint was that the front end of the bike is very stiff. It seems to me that the massive size of the head tube and the proprietery Cannondale stem make for a very stiff ride up front. I could feel every little ripple in the road. Different handlebars may have dulled this a bit, but my preference is for something a bit more forgiving up front.

Ride it hard and fast and it's a great bike. Wasn't too fond of it for cruising on bumpy roads... front end is as Fleck said very very stiff. It also makes it ultra responsive and easy to push hard, really hard into corners. I'd throw some Fizik bar gel or something on there for regular cruising around. Anyways, killer race bikes, Cannondale loves to build in a lot of integrated technology, personally I love that, but take it into account before you buy the bike. Higher end models usually use Cannondale specific forks and possibly BB30 cranks (which rock!) as well.

Looks nice, if you have an option stay away. Cannondale's lugging is not the best inthose frames, other brands did ti/carbon with great success though. Stay away from Cannondale. if you go the all alum. or all carbon Cannondales they are good.

swimfan...the super six is all carbon...and it is not fully lugged...my guess is you probably havent even ridden one...read up and do some research on the bikes...co- molding is different than lugging...

"stay away from cannondale"...that makes me laugh...why some people have a beef with a company and hold onto that thought for years and years strikes me funny...

i have a Super, and I used to ride a System also...the System was a harsh ride in my size (52cm) but the Super seems more forgiving...thats my take, but i loved them both for different reasons...so yes, Im biased, but I also have an R3-SL, A P3c, a steel Masi, a ti bike, etc, etc....

Re: cannondale super 6 bikes [sback] [In reply to] Can't Post

Super Six is not externally lugged Carbon, the bottom bracket/chainstay is one assembly, as is the downtube, toptube and seatube assembly. They then mold them together with the seatstays.
Its a little more forgiving than the system six, but still with the oversized fork its a laterally stiff front end. I have spent time riding both the Super Six and System Six and although I prefer the System Six because the aluminium rear end feels a little "snappier" I will concede that the Super Six is a more comfortable ride. Supposedly there will be a Super Six SL out next year that will be under 1000g and higher modulus carbon with reworked shaping for more stiffness. The sprinters on Health Net and Liquigas actually preferred their System Six bikes from the previous year as they were laterally stiffer up front, so the reworked bike is to answer that demand.
