aftermarket bayonet-type fork? Can't Post

I was just wondering if it was even possible or if someone had tried making an aftermarket fork similar to the Felt Bayonet that would fit any bike with a 1 1/8 steerer tube?

"Oh you hate your job? There's a support group for that, it's called EVERYBODY and they meet at the bar."

Felt sells the Bayonet2 fork aftermarket, but the current design is for 1" head tubes with ~45mm O.D. and specific head tube lenghts. 1.125" forks are used on the Tk1 and a prototype AR1, but nothing in production at this moment.

How much do they sell the aftermarket for for? Do you know if there are technical drawings of it somewhere that one could look at to see if it would work for their application? Thanks!

I think they are on our website now, I do not set the MSRP prices, but the entire system is about a $1000 preminum over a standard fork so I'd guess $1100-1200 or so.

As to the tech spex, I could give you the copmatible head tube heights and fork offset as well as head tube O.D. max .

Dave,
I am currently purchasing an 09 B2 and wondering if the Bayonet 2 is compatible? Also, after watching the install videos of the Bayonet 1 and 2, i noticed obvious differences and am wondering if internal parts from the Bayonet 2 can be used for the Bayonet 1. Reason i ask all this is due to the numerous threads pertaining to loosening and improper installation.
thanks

Yes, the 2009 B2 R can use a Bayonet2. The 2009 frame and 2010 frame are the same shape, in fact, all carbon TT/Tri models from Felt can use Bayonet1 or 2. The internal parts such as headset bearings can be interchanged, but all the adjutment and locking mechanisms are different.

Having either fork installed correctly is key and should be completed before you take delivery of your bike.

Thanks for your purchase, please let me know if you have any questions pertaining to the assembly.
