Yet another nipple question Can't Post
Before I do something that has the potential to be really stupid, let me ask this:

What prevents someone from drilling out the hole just a little to allow regular nipples on a rim intended for internal nipples that's made by Zipp? Is the nipple bed inside the rim different or is it just the size of the hole?

I am asking because I have a set of the new 2008 dimpled 202's I'd like to use for a set of cross wheels, but if they go out of true I'd have to pull the tire off to adjust with internal nipples.

Should I bag this project and get new rims or can someone with experience drill out the holes?

Up until I read the word rim - the word drilling was really scaring me!

Up until I read the word rim - the word drilling was really scaring me!

They probably have a slightly different layup for the rims intended for internal nipples, I recall reading it somewhere and it makes sense. I wouldn't do it - probably better to get some 303s.

I just bought some internal nipples, better safe than sorry.

I have a back-up set of 404's that may end up being the go to set....
