Yelled at because of other cyclists
Can't Post
I was out for 60km last night. I was on my way home when I came across a couple (I assume they were a couple since they had identical bikes, helmets adn outfits on) riding hybrids along the road. As we were getting closer to town the roads were a bit busy and these two were riding side by side.
I approached them and had to slow right down. The guy was riding about 2 feet from teh yellow line and the woman was in the middle of the lane. I didn't want ot pass on the right without lots of advance warning and I didn't want ot pass over the yellow line with traffic coming.
I said "I'm just going to pass you on the right, but perhaps you should both move over a bit so as not to block the whole road".
As I passed they told me to Fuck off. I rode away.
I was about 4 km down the road at a stoplight when a car pulled up and the lady driving threw an empty coffee cup at me, then yelled "Fuck you you damn cyclist. I almost killed your friends back there." she then threw an empty water bottle at me too (both missed me). I normally say nothing and ignore these people. This time I spoke up. I told her that I didn't know the people she passed and that I had asked them to move over as well. She swore at me again and then turned right from the left hand turn lane without a signal.
I was so p'ed I rode back to my "fellow cyclists" and told them what happened. They again told me to fuck off. I had some choice words for them and rode off one last time.
This has been eating at me all day. Cyclists acting like idiots who tell me to f-off then cause some woman to loose it and road rage on me.
I can tell you I hate road ragers...but I hate obnoxious cyclists more!

The fact that she threw 2 things at you shows some serious anger management issues. Maybe her BF just gave her a VD or something...
I would have told her the two (cyclists you passed) are (what car she drove) haters...and pedaled away...

Instead of hating road ragers, or obnoxious cyclists, hate everyone. Works for me.

You should have told the driver that her aim sucks; she should have easily hit them with they way they were in the middle of the road, and maybe she should go back and try again.

If you had time to explain your situation to that bizatch, you had time to kick the side view mirror off of her car. Work on your technique a bit.

I guess I'm just to patient a person.
I did not get the plates of the driver.
As a lawyer I'm full of snappy comebacks in the office and in court. When I'm on the bike that whole skillset is gone. Under normal circumstances I would verbally tear these people apart.

On a motorcycle, yes. In bike shoes, that's an extra degree of difficulty.

That is pretty sad. There are plenty of drivers who perceive all cyclists as though we all know each other, we are all friends, and we would all stick together in our opinions and practices, and we would all stick up for each other in any situation, especially in any confrontation with some evil car driver. Nothing could be further from the truth.
That woman in your story pisses me off, no doubt. But I gotta be honest. The other cyclists in your situation piss me off way, way more.

In the end, we're only left with the sad realization that most people suck. There, I said it. I know plenty of folks are cool, but the longer I'm around, the more I see the cool ones are the exceptions.

"People are ass-holes" is one of my daily mantras... Saddest thing is that it seems like they're out to prove it on a daily basis.
