Xterra USA championships--results? Can't Post

Anyone know what happened in Nevada today?

Conrad Stoltz did not win, something happened to him on the run. Someone from Canada won the mens.
Womens winner was Melanie McQuaid.

Sorry I don't have much more right now. Awards just ended.

psssh no one replies to my thread lol!

anyway, anyone know what happened to conrad on the run? seeing as he didn't make the top 5 even. McQuaid wins the women's race, well no surprise there hahaha. Looks like usual suspects for top 5 in mens race. women's race looks like a world championship result already (where are the americans!!)

That's the mountain regional championship, not the USA race that was today.

I'd say they're doing pretty good updating it. Yesterdays stuff is up already. I'm sure the results will be up later night, the race only ended a few hours ago.

I cruised up there and couldn't really find a results board...not sure what the story was with Conrad.
Huge shout-out, however, to Reno dood Tom Lyons for winning his age group.

Boy did they get lucky. Great weather today. Not sure how much it rained yesterday.

Looks like yesterday they had to flip it over to the Du since the storm was churning up the lake.

In all fairness, you're right.

Problem with the internet age...we're all about instant gratification. :)

Was wondering about the swim since it was bad weather Friday afternoon thru Sat night. And it has been nice for like 6 months. My wife was up in the hills this morning and talked to a few riders getting ready to race. One reporter she talked with was there to cover Conrad. Shall be interesting to see what happened to him.

Re: Xterra USA championships--results? [h2ofun] [In reply to] Can't Post

The weather was actually great for race-day. It was freezing in the morning (night time low was around 25), but the sun warmed things up really quick. No doubt athletes were cold coming out of the water, but the high temp was in the mid-50s and most of the athletes I talked to loved the conditions. Plus the previous days' rain helped hold the trails together.

Conrad had some low-back/leg problems early on in the bike. I saw him coming up Tunnel Creek Road and he was flying (this is very early on in the bike leg). He had almost caught Vine and Wealing, but then his body pretty much shut down and he couldn't climb. Props to him for battling through to a respectable finish.

The weather was nothing short of miserable for the Sport race on Saturday. Very high winds (gusting up to 30mph) and freezing rain all morning. Most of the upper peaks got a good dusting of snow. The real rock stars of the weekend are the guys who did the Sport race. That couldn't have been fun at all. Christoph Sauser (mountain bike badass) did a relay on Saturday and absolutely destroyed the course. I've never seen anyone ride like that.

Also of note was Olympian Susan Williams racing in her second XTERRA ever. She tore up the climb and actually had a lead on McQuaid, but as soon as the course got technical, Mel took over and Williams faded way back.
