Wired Powertap Harness Questions Can't Post

I have an older Powertap with no carbon windows wired. It has the squarish hub pickup. I ordered a new harness to put on my other bike and it has the sharkfin type pickup. I can not get it to pickup the hub signal. Are they not compatible? If not, does anyone sell the older style harnesses any longer?

Thanks in advance for any help on this matter.

Scott

As a little more info here is the harness info I bought:
  • For all wired PowerTaps
  • Includes receiver/stem/handlebar mounts with wired cadence sensor and magnet.

I bought a used wired PT and it came with 2 harnesses. One was the sharkfin and one was the squarish one. They both work perfectly. But my hub is a carbon window model.

I've got an older hub that came with the square pickup. It's the silver one with the black cap.

I replaced it with the sharkfin one and it works fine.

Hmm. Weird. Maybe I need to make sure I had the head unit clipped in solid. Thanks for all the help!!

Check to make sure all the pins on the base and bottom of the computer are clean and making good contact.

Make sure the batteries in the hub are good. If you have the same old hub that I have it takes an "N" type battery. I found them at a CVS drugstore.

Other than that I've got one hub that has to be right next to the sensor in order for it to work.

Check the wiring for any kinks that may result in broken wires.

If that doesn't work you may need to contact Saris about this issue.

On the really old model PTs and pick ups, the pick up had to be mounted 6-8 inches from the hub. The "newer" square and shark fin models need to be much closer to hub. But it should still work.

I have the same older style hub and both the square and sharkfin pickups work fine. As the poster above suggested, play with the positioning until it works. You could have just received a dud wiring harness too in which case just call Saris (happened with a brand new heart rate strap I bought from them). Their customer service is top notch.
