Which: Carbon Cranks or Disc?
Can't Post
Santa was good to me and I have $500 to spend on bike goodies. I have a Softride PowerWing with Ultegra and Hed Tri Spokes. I do mainly duathlons here in Texas. Cannot afford both , Any suggestions as to which one to get?

Carbon cranks look cool, but won't improve performance in any measurable way. A disc on the other hand will be faster in most conditions. So, it's a question of priorities...

Carbon cranks are hype. for $500 you can get a $70 Tufo S3 lite 21mm tire and for $340 you can get a 700c tubular Renn, for $177 you can get a new set of Dura Ace cranks and rings (

)
So, $410 for a disc/tire ... other options: Next best disc is a $800 Corima so there is a large gap in discs between a Renn and a Corima.

I couldn't have said it better than Gary in SD. Take his recommendation. Happy New Year!
