What's with the flimsy IMC bib numbers??
Can't Post
I forgot to ask the forum their thoughts on the lousy IMC bib numbers. Usually, they're indestructible ... made of a paper/plastic mix but this year they were plastic. The first one I pinned on my race belt ripped right off with no effort so I ended up using duct tape (best tool known to man) to reinforce the other so it wouldnt tear. On race day, I noticed tons of riders and runners with shredded or missing numbers. Some folks had stuffed their folded numbers in their pockets. Maybe we should let Joe know the new type don't cut it.

I agree with the notion that the new plastic numbers are not better than the "tyvek" type numbers. I did not swim with mine and had to repair it with a safety pin before and during the run. They also are not flexible enough and, being somewhat sensitive to things, having it rub and flap while running was annoying at best. Bring back the old numbers!

Actually i had no problem. i used a number belt and added three extra pins to keep it in place. i did see a lot of people who had torn numbers but they just used the bottoms on the holes or the elastic tabs through the holes with no pins.
i thought they said no swimming with the number on for everyone.

I've seen these at a lot of races this past year, and the plastic numbers suck! I can't say that I've had tearing issues, but they don't "soften up" like the tyvek numbers do when you crumple them up, and as such don't lie flat nicely on the bike. They retain their stiffness in an unpredictable manner and can stick up like a sail in the wind. They're also uncomfortable when they make contact and I know of more than one person who's been cut by them.
Bring back the tyvek numbers!
