I recall seeing some video of a 12-13 year old boy that had done an IM. I'm not 100% sure on his age, though.

Collin's 14-year-old son managed to finish the thing in about 24 hours, and will forever be the youngest Ironman finisher--a minimum age requirement was subsequently set at 18.

I fifteen year old just finished Chesapeakeman and I believe he finished it last year also when he was 14-years-old. He was actually the first person out of the water this year.

How can he be considered a finisher if he took longer than 17 hours?

Depends how you define IM finisher. If you mean an actual "Ironman" branded event, the answer is above. If the answer is someone completing the "Iron" distance in a race, then it is Austin Lelles of Boulder City, Nevada, who completed the My First Triathlon Bigfoot Full Iron in Harrison Mills, British Columbia, Canada at an age of 13 years and five months. His time was 13:38:33. You can do a search for the thread where this topic was discussed. Here is a link to a newspaper article about Austin:

This was back before the cutt off and when people would stop for a burger on the drive.
