Tri Bike Transport Can't Post

I'm debating using these guys for AG Nationals, and hoping that the wisdom of ST can push me one way or the other. I live in NYC, and don't currently have a hard shipping box. Tri bike transport is $250, and the drop-off is Sep 9 (race is Sep 20). I have no plans to race outside of the greater NYC area for a while, so I'm not sure that I absolutely need to drop the coin on a box right now. The convenience of their service is what attracts me most, as opposed to boxing & flying with the bike, then schlepping it around for a week after the race.

What to do?

They are awesome, great service. Convenient after the race too. And you don't even have to take off your front wheel, much less anything else.

You will probably hear nothing but good things about them here. I used them from Boston to race at Alcatraz this summer and it was a spot on service. The only advice is make sure you dont have any big races for 2 to 3 weeks after if you have to have them move the bike a long distance across the country.
They even gave me a great hat!

I have used the twice, its worth the money, bike is ready to ride in 2 minutes of delivery, they carry an extra bag for cheap. After the race it is usually a 2 minute walk to drop it off to them for the ride back home.

The only neg. I've found, is that depending on where you live, you maybe with out your bike a week before and a week after.

I am using them again in June for IMCDA.

I used them for St. Anthony's last year from NYC. Picked up and dropped off the bike right next to transition. Only had to remove the pedals. Drop off was at SBR multisport one week before, was back one week after the event. The only slight problem I had was that when it got back to SBR they were insistent on me coming to get it that night. I explained that I live 60 miles away, and they would have to wait until the next day. I guess I understand their position, they do not need 50 bikes taking up room in their store. I would use the service again.

They offer a good service. You are a little at the mercy of the drop-off shop for the service on that end. They take your bike and bags and tag them--mine was not my local shop and they were a little clueless, didn't know I was coming, tagged my bike for the wrong race and argued with my wife when she pointed it out to them. In their defense, all the other bikes they had were going to NYC tri and mine was going to IMLP. At the race, picking up your bike from them and droping it off is about as easy as it gets. Your bike is sitting on a rack, you grab it and off you go. After the race, you roll it over to Mark and the guys and they got it from there. I used them for IMLP and will definitely do so again. A search here will result lots of endorsements. I think it's definitely the way for you to go.

They take your bike and bags.

So they take bags too? Any parameters around this? (i.e. Tools, CO2, Pump, etc)

Thanks!

I guess this could vary race to race, but I won't be back home until the Saturday following the race (one week later). It will literally be impossible for me to get my bike before then - I assume it will be up to Cadence to determine whether or not they'll keep my bike afterwards then (assuming the bike beats me back to NYC)?

As I recall, they take a wheel bag (if you have a disc they want it in a bag) for free. They will take a gear bag up to 25# for, I believe, $25 -- you can put anything in it you want. Their web site is www.tribiketransport.com It's very informative.
