Carl, nice bike! As soon as I saw it I knew where it came from! You have the only one with the mis-matched fork! We built four of those down in the WW Proto Lab and sent them up WLoo. They are neat bikes, very stiff as well.

(And Yes, I work at Trek also)

Great bike porn, Carl! My Renn Disc didn't look nearly as fast on my Trek 5900! Thanks for the pictures. Your former wheels did great at the Antwerp 70.3 -- shattered my previous half-IM bike split by about 15 min (well, OK, it was probably a little short) and I am looking forward to having a fast bike at IM Germany next weekend.

Ride strong at your races!

Re: Trek Equinox TTX 9.5 pics [Carl] [In reply to] Can't Post

Daddy like, very, very much.

Too bad they won't spec it with the blue carbon fort. That looks so sweet.

In regards to the rear brake cable routing- did Trek move the exit hole from behind the seat tube? It looks like it may not be just to the left of the seat tube. When building this bike in the past (working at a bike shop) I remember having trouble getting the rear brake to work smoothly because of the severe bend required of the brake cable housing as it exits the seat tube.

Is the geometry different from last year? If so, what did they change?

Also, is the bike size measured from BB to top of the seattube? Or virtual seat tube?

What a beautiful bike. I hope you get to keep it!

cheers,

antonio

Re: Trek Equinox TTX 9.5 pics [Tillquist] [In reply to] Can't Post

here ya go...this is the stock post and saddle for the 9.5. 9.9 gets the carbon one that I've got mounted on the bike, but mine is unfinished. last I knew, the finished version will get a black paint/decal towards the top with an open carbon "window" (similar to what you see on the fork and the frame) towards the back and bottom.

aha! now I know exactly who to blame. the Friday that Q-box showed up and I opened it the first thing I said was "please, let that blue one be on the 56..."

I've got a raw one that I could get done "right" anytime, but I have to admit the mismatch is growing on me.

glad to hear the swap has worked well for you, too. your former wheels have been campaigned thrice now (as of this morning) and I'm still trying to be worthy of them. got an AG 2nd and an 8th OA in the first two, but today's race had $ on the line 10-deep overall...which kinda boosted the quality of the field at the pointy end and pushed me way down in the standings. gotta tune the engine a little better!

Re: Trek Equinox TTX 9.5 pics [Tri2Live] [In reply to] Can't Post

thank you!

rear brake exit hole on TTT/Equinox 11 was center-left on the back of the seat tube. on TTX and ETTX it comes out of a hole in the non-driveside stiffening detail where the TT and ST meet. much more assembly- and operation-friendly.

biggest geometry difference from the TTT and TTX is a 76deg ST angle. coupled with the reversible seatpost, you can ride UCI roadie slack or trigeek steep. call the range 73-78deg with some wiggle room on each end based on your available saddle rail length and where you plant your taint.

It's measured to top of TT if memory serves, but definitely not measured to top of seat mast.

California Dreamin!

Realistically how much does that bike cost?!

Then I'll figure out how many assets need to be sold.

holy shit, who can compare bikes when you see those quads. What are you some kind of weight lifter.

LOL.... Yes, I do some weightlifting and ride treks (I guess it's a crime here on st...) :P

Love the ride of the bike though!! I had the equinox 11 last year and can tell some difference between that and the TTX. The TTX feels a tiny bit stiffer laterally to me. The D/A cranks are a nice ride too. The carbon arms (before on the E11) seemed to flex alittle too much. But the bike is a beautiful ride.

I am strictly a bike racer, by the way.

What a sweet ride. I just wish Trek had made the smaller frame in 650. I'd be all over it.

Be on the look out for the new Aluminum Equinox bikes as well. They share alot of the same tube shapes as the carbon version.

And if you dont like the red, a couple other colors will be available on other models. What do you think about Yellow? Disco colors as well.

Re: Trek Equinox TTX 9.5 pics [Carl] [In reply to] Can't Post

Very nice. The blue fork looks sweet...

Where can we find the complete geometry charts for this bike? My shop says no information is available yet.

Are there any color options besides red (I don't ride red bikes...superstitious). Can this bike be ordered with a Project One paint scheme (baby blue flames into orange would require a cold shower)?

Can one purchase the frame/fork/post alone? Cost?

What is the frame weight for the 110 version?

Cheers,
