Training or Hunting Can't Post

I have a big problem. Northern Wisconsin during the fall rut season for whitetail deer. Problem is the weather is going to be fantastic all weekend , Mid 60's.
Should I hunt or go for a bike ride?

Do you have a old 80's yello or orange neon vest to wear on your bike? Just stick the shotgun in your rear hydration holder. Problem solved!! Sure to be a cute little animal running around somewhere.

i suggesting training on a mountain bike, with a Lance, and if you can kill a whitetail in that manner, you are a true warrior.

the normal methods just aren't very sporting.

HUNT. You can ride all year, the hunting season is short. Or hunt in the morning, ride from 11-2, then hunt again (unless you hit the 10 pointer in the am)

I hope the deer somehow manages to learn how to steal your gun and shoots you instead. And then steals your bike.

Now if you had a 30.06 slug lodged in your skull from a freak mishap with your Uncle Bob discharging his rifle while driving out to the cabin, THEN you would have a big problem.

Otherwise, what is the problem? Go out and hunt.

For once I agree with Jackmott. If you can't catch it with your bare hands you don't deserve it.

Why not!!!!

I am sure that there are more things to do in life than ride, run or swim. Got to mix it up. If we all did the same things constantly year after year, we would become pretty bored. I live in a place where there are unlimited things to do in the outdoors. You noticed that I didn't make my choise to train or watch Nascar.

x2 the whitetail rut comes but once a year. Plus racing is a long way away. I was watching young bucks come to estrous calls near my stand tonight. a great experience!

i agree with you SBR is not everything in life, but why kill animals?
go there with no guns and grab with your hand and kill the animal with your hands, not shutting from way back.

I got no problem with killin deer, theres lots of them and they aren't exactly geniuses.

But, its just not very sporting to use a gun, or a bow and arrow.

You could just shoot at a range

If you do kill a deer send me some deer jerky, shits good

For me, training ride. That way I don't have to make excuses for coming home empty handed. Odds of me killing an animal are probably about the same.

I am just saying it is a bit hypocritical to oppose hunting unless you are a vegatarian.

Another vote for hunting. I'm sloughing off a long run in the morning to go myself. I may take a ride after lunch tomorrow, but the morning is reserved for my deer stand.

Ignore the city slickers that have no clue about reality. Go hunting, rut happens once a year. Take advantage of it and enjoy nature at it's finest.

Re: Training or Hunting [bodan63] [In reply to] Can't Post

Go for a bike ride.

I live in rural eastern Ontario and we're currrently in the two weeks of deer hunting which is a huge thing in this area. I HATE THIS TIME OF THE YEAR. This means I can't run with my dog on the conservation trails in fear of a stray bullet or some idiot hunting where they shouldn't be.

Am I missing something. These bozos look forward to this all year so they can have a week or two away from their wives and do some "male bonding" getting drunk, sleeping in a tiny cabin, farting/snoring, not taking a shower and shooting at anything that has fur. Bag a mouse if you can't find a deer.

Every year we lose a few hunters - either by accidental shooting, heart attack or they get lost in the woods and die of over exposure.

Don't even go there - deer hunters are f*cking morons IMHO. I just don't understand what the attraction is about the manly art of shooting defenseless animals.

You hunt just for fun, right?

Feeling the need to go on a killing spree "just for fun" is a serious psychiatric condition.

I like the idea that the deer meat that i eat is free of growth hormone and steroids, unlike most of the Kroger meat. The deer lives a completly natural life until I take him or her. A much more humane way for animals to live than living in a cage slightly larger than the body of a chicken of a cow that is available at the local grocery.

Knew you would bring up that you feel superior about your unrestricted access to meat that you personally have contributed to being unattainable for the majority of Americans.
Way to go!
