Tim Marr follows in father's footsteps----28 years later
Can't Post
Hawaii Pro Tim Marr will be competing in his first Kona Ironman this week. Check out this short piece by his father Blake. Blake did the last Ironman on Oahu in 1980.

ditto... good luck to both Tim and Mariane!!! Spotting Mariane
WITHOUT
a smile on her face is like seeing a leprecon or a unicorn or the lock ness monster...or maybe even a jackalope….I digress. You get my point, she’s ALWAYS smiling and having fun. On the other hand, Tim has been spotted with a few grimaces here and there on the race course, but chances are he’ll be smiling when he’s coming down Ali’i Drive and once more when he greets Mariane at the finish line.

I remember Tim back when he was still in high school, and doing races with his father Blake. Back in '97, he was first out of the water at the inaugural North Shore Triathlon. I caught him a couple miles into the bike, on the way to an OA win, but you could tell even then he had some serious ability.
I'm going to have to follow his effort online on Saturday. Good luck to everybody competing in Kona this weekend!!

There is a photo of Tim and Marianne on the IM website under the updates/photos section. Mildly out of focus--but Ms. Marr and her husband appear to be all smiles

Tim is a great guy. I have spent time with him a few times over the last 2 years.
Quiet guy, but goes alright when racing.
I hope he has a great day out here on Saturday. I'll give him a cheer.

Thank for sharing! I was lucky enough to meet Tim in my first year in the sport. It was always nice hearing about what was going on in front of the race first hand. I hope he and his wife have a great day out there.
Aloha,
Matt
