I do like the S2 and would like to know where it falls in regards to the Carbon Soloist, SLC-CL and this new S2

Definitely looks like an evolution of the carbon Soloist to me. My guess is that the SLC model gets supplanted by this.

If it slotted in above the SLC-SL, I have to imagine CSC-SaxoBank would have been on it.

what exactly is the S2? Soloist version 2.0 or a lower end version of the Soloist?

Quote
what i have heard/read:

- soloist team will be called S1 - no other news
- SLC will be called S2 - nothing new, maybe cable routing (?) - color should be mainly black with red front head and fork
- SLC-SL will be called S3 - this is the one you can see in a topic on slowtwitch - new cable routing, new seatstay http://forum.slowtwitch.com/...elo_-_pics_P1897397/
color should be: identical to the pictures for the "olympic series" and identical to the current SLC colors where you replace the red by some grey

regards
Jeff

As the pictures shows, the S2 is not just an SLC with a new paint scheme. The seat stay / seat tube joint is different.
The S2 seat tube doesn't look as deep as the SLC seat tube either, but it's hard to tell excactly.

Tiny thumbnails of the 2009 range.

I think this is where the S2 and P2C pictures came from.

From what I can see I like the paint schemes ex the S3.. Olympic rings for all? No thanks.

The Danish team pursuit riders at the Olympics got new P3T track bikes for the Olympics.
Here's 2005 Scratch World Champion Alex Rasmussen's Olympics blog (in Danish), where he posted a picture of his new P3T with Olympic paint scheme: http://blog.tv2.dk/....ol/entry251579.html
What fork brand is that?

MDT (which I believe that SuperDave has previously stated fails to meet UCI dimensional rules).

What is that on the bottommost hole of the IAA on the seatpost? It looks like an SRM mount... but the bike has regular (well, not regular, but non SRM) cranks.

I thought "chopped-nose" saddles were UCI-illegal now too...

Re: The Official Cervelo P4 Thread [Twitchslow] [In reply to] Can't Post

I really wish they were making the P3C in the olympic rings color scheme. They're doing a world championship stripes bike, but the rings theme is so much cooler. Plus, I haven't won a world championship yet, so I'm a little uncomfortable riding a bike w/ the stripes all over it.

I'll shotgun that observation ;) we noticed it at the Track World Champs earlier this year, although interestingly only 3 of the 4 team pursuiters had them

Doesnt MDT buy them from Argos in the UK? On their site, you can buy them for about 100 euros less at Argos.

Do they? I just said "MDT" because I recognized the oval logo.

Re: The Official Cervelo P4 Thread [Andrew Coggan] [In reply to] Can't Post

Im not sure, but they look the same, have the same exact description as the MDT website, and they cost less. My guess is that they have Argos build them to order, and have them even paint them up for MDT. I dont suppose you have seen any of these in any tunnel as compared to an ouzo aero. I have wondered since I first saw them several years ago; especially after the many times we have heard Dan say that the fastest fork ever tested was a cheap steel fork off of some low end bike (huffy?) that was described as steel bar stock.

Re: The Official Cervelo P4 Thread [luckyleese] [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm guessing a Giant knockoff - the fork/steerer assembly up front has too much surface area when oriented in a cross wind or during steering (a la Felt). Cervelo's engineers are smarter than that.

Same fork. The MDT and Argos fork even share the same name: "Aero Blade"

P4 Release Date in October? [In reply to] Can't Post

According to Shop's conversation with Cervelo rep this week:

P4 will be available at Cervelo dealers in "October".

"standard" brakes (not tucked behind fork or under BB)
"is the most aero frame "ever"..."
"reason we are not seeing any pics?...so others can't copy design"...

The Weight weenies forum posted links to Cervelo's patent on a bayonet-like
stem. So the first photo in this thread, the "Giant" looks a lot like what to
expect, except the tucked front brake.

Who wants to sell me their P3C so they can be the first to buy the P4C?

Re: P4 Release Date in October? [Clancy in HB] [In reply to] Can't Post

That bayonet like stem that is in the patent information was very interesting. I saw a lot of that stuff a while back while looking at several of their patent items. Brakes were however internal in the forks that they had and I do believe that they had a special aerobar that fit the bayonet like stem. It was all very cool.

We only have to wait a few days and we will know if the P4 was on the Olympics...

I wonder about the price for P4. In europe the price for the P2C will increase with 100euro. The price of the P3C will decrease with 200 euro. Will the price difference between the P3C and the P4C be the same as between the P2C and the P3C?

In euro's:
P2C: 1699,-
P3C: 2799,-
P4C: 3899,-????

I love that bike. There is something endearing and clean looking about a well finished track bike. I keep telling myself i can't justify the cost of a P3T but y'know................

I don't recall making that statement. I might have asked HOW it meets the UCI rules, just like the "inverted question mark" bikes' seat tubes that in no way fit the 80mm box dimenesion called out by the UCI whereupon the seat tube must fit within a rectangular section that does not exceed 80mm in cross section from its start to the end. I'm not the UCI, of course, so they can interpret their own rules. Some of the exceptions baffle me however.
