Man, my erector spinae hurt just looking at that position! Somebody needs to tell this guy that he needs to get F.I.S.T.ed, and pull his elbows back.

Dan E opinion about Teutenberg position: “lars teutenberg. what a position. former hour record holder (HPV). obviously understands things. bert grabsch also nice position, but lars, that's as good as you can get i think.”

Apparently Dan doesn't recognize an angle of greater than 80-85 deg when he sees one. ;-)

EDIT: I also find it hilarious that Dan got so f-ing righteous when I questioned his method of determining proper "cockpit length" that he felt the need to play games with my post, when he in fact states that "Cockpit distance is simply a matter of personal taste. Whatever the subject wants in a cockpit measure, the subject gets...".

There's a Jonas' Borthers concert coming up? OMFG I just HAVE to get tickets.....

I have a 14 yr old and a 12 yr old daughter. I was at opening night of the "Burnin' Up" tour in Toronto last Friday. My teenage girl scream-damaged hearing is almost back to normal.

Jo-Bros + Hannah Montana + clothes shopping = No P4 for me. :(

The fastest guys at stage 4 all had their seats 2-3" too high by ST wisdom, sat a bit further back, arms were all over and some below 90. TT is a whole different thing, but there's more options than are generally considered. FIST is an excellent starting point and great for tri.

FC and material- looked like he was sliding around a lot, so I might go with material as in Craft skinsuit vs Assos.

The Cervélo Soloist SLC-SL frame is the same model he’s been racing on since the start of the season. Cervélo’s co-founder Gerard Vrooman, who was at the start of Stage 1 in Brest, said that the team wouldn’t be on anything that hasn’t been seen before at this year’s Tour. He said that the brand would wait for the fall trade shows before rolling out any changes to the bikes

Huh, not even close. I'd consider myself a capitalist yuppie with a few friends, though.

Don, I am surprised none of the P3C 2009 models will be wearing blue next year. Do you have any idea why not? ;)

Looks an awful lot like Cadel Evan's Ridley - http://tour-de-france.velonews.com/photo/79609. There may be a better pix out there, but I'm tapering & not exactly 100%!

Re: The Official Cervelo P4 Thread [Andrew Coggan] [In reply to] Can't Post

No, at the bottom of the pedal stroke their heels were all 3" above parallel...their leg bend was right though. I noticed some riders with their foot parallel to the ground at the bottom of the stroke, but not in the top 10. Evans had his hands way below parallel. I think FC might like the straight extensions because they put his hands at the exact right angle for him, a little below parallel. I had to see what it felt like, it takes some stress off my shoulders, locks me in a little more fore/aft, and I can push or pull to lock my butt.
When accelerating, everyone was wiggling around more than I remember from watching them in other races.
Seats were deeper/further back so I guess they were a little lower.

help me out, I may be seeing this wrong or misunderstanding what I'm seeing.

Yesterday, I got to ride with the owners of Davis Wheelworks and Front of the Pack.
It was good times sharing/comparing retail store war stories.

As always, its been a pleasure interacting with the Cervelo staff.
They are very knowledgable but easy to talk to and hang out with.
(and they love hanging out with their dealers)

Can you post an example of what you mean? In none of the pics I've seen do any of the riders appear to have their saddle abnormally high.

(BTW, having your heel elevated by ~3" is not at all the same as having your saddle 3" too high.)

Cancellera after yesterdays TT:

"With a swarm of journalists interrogating him at the finish, Cancellara considered his defeat further. "You know maybe I made some mistakes. Maybe I didn't warm up enough. Maybe I didn't choose the right material. But this is certain: I won't make the same mistakes a second time."

Didn't choose the right material? Huh? Is he referring to his jersey or his P3? Maybe he's hoping for the P4 too... ;)

Brad

I think he's referring to the wheels. His teamate Kurt Asle Arvesen who rode the TT earlier in the day had one task for the day: To ride with a Zipp 1080 front wheel and report back if it was too windy for Cancellara and the others to use this. Kurt said it was too windy, so the rest of the CSC team rode with maximum Zipp 808 front wheels instead.

So Saturday is just around the Tour corner and what do you think the chances are for seeing a new P4C heading to a Tour win. This is the time that you want a new frame out there. The power of the yellow jersey and the new P4 win the race and anther team member rides to a podium spot as well.

It is out there.

I'd say there's a 10% chance Sastre will be on the podium in this year's TdF. The chance for a second Saxobank podium finisher is less than 1%.

Looks like no P4C for Carlos tomorrow, just a standard P3C getting hot-rodded for the race of truth.

They are definitely working on it, the question is when mortals will see it.

The problem is, and few people outside the industry really understand this, but Cervelo of NOW is nothing like Cervelo of 5 years ago. As a new aggressive bike company, they could take risks, come out with new product lines (it seems like many came out within a couple years) and TAKE RISKS. Now, they are established, and word is that they are much more conservative in their decision making (as dictated by possibly the "legal" types now involved?) and product development. They have also undergone a bit of a company evolution (splitting up different groups into affiliate companies, etc.) I know this has had some effect on their engineers (I know 2 who are now "former" Cervelo engineers doing a bit of consulting for me) as well, and I don't know if they have replaced staff, or simply reduced it in numbers. This would cause more work to be distributed, which usually = longer design-to-production cycles).

Of course, if Phil & Gerard would give him the OK to discuss with me, I'd be happy to make a phone call over to their head engineer in Huntington Beach and find out what the hold up is. :-)
