People were (over)speculating on a P4..and getting a bit carried away with it.

"but from the looks of it is is there not a new model for '09? "

What have you seen? Bman posted some pictures of a P3C knockoff from
giant, but otherwise there are no pictures.

The P3C Cancallera special in white will be available though.

The good news about paint is that you can always change the color once the frame is made. Sometimes limited editions get rolled into the normal product line based on demand.

So tonight at dinner, I end up at a round-table discussion with Tom D., Darrell Eng, Cid Cardosa and Chris Bastie of Cervelo (who was really the wink link).
Lots of stories told about owning and running tri-bike stores (and the things that can go wrong(or right).

Interesting note: All 4 store owners (who happen to be competitive triathletes (and have many bike options)) ride P3C's.

Didn't we determine that your P3C needed a custom paint job to get in line with the rest of the owners too?

Good discussion about business and various industry rumors that we've heard about other brands. I realized that I should start collecting some old tri bikes when they pop up for sale too. I think that the oldest one in the store is an early P2 frameset.

I've been on my same old frameset for four season now. i'm ready for something new.

Maybe i'll try a Guru. i hear you can immediately drop 30w from your power output just by riding this bike.

Re: THERE IS A P4C! [In reply to] Can't Post

According to this article... apparently there is a P4C

I don't know how reliable of a source Inside Triathlon is, however it seems that they've had a glimpse of what this bike is supposed to look like.

Manufacturers Be Warned: Cervelo P4C
Posted Mar. 11, 2008
Improving on the P3C isn’t an easy thing to do. But for its new P4C, Cervelo borrows a strategy from motorsports in order to outdo its TT rig. The company uses a steel skeleton and bolt-on modular pieces to try different shapes for any part of the frame and measure the effect of just one change. This powerful tool allows them to use academic precision when designing the next superbike.

Cervelo wouldn’t let us take any pictures when we previewed the model at Brainbike a few weeks ago - and the frame they showed us surely didn’t reveal all of Cervelo's secrets. Nevertheless, the bike they gave us a glimpse of had a few interesting changes from the P3C. For instance, the seatstays mimic the tubes from the Felt DA/B2. They don’t smoothly flow out of the seat tube; instead they remain as narrow as possible until the chainstays abruptly jump out of the frame.

The bottom bracket area of the P4C extends toward the front of the bike. This allows the down tube to connect to the head tube at a lower point and draft behind the front wheel. However, there was no front wheel cutout. The coolest part of the new down tube position is that it completely eliminated the empty space behind the crown of the fork.

Cervelo doesn’t want to release too much information about their new designs, but they slipped up. They handed out a booklet containing a picture of their engineers posing with a model bike. Most of the bike was cut out of the pic, but the steer tube was exposed. I couldn’t make out details, but there was a piece of the model plastic surrounding the steer tube and reaching out to the stem. I don’t know any more specifics, but anticipate something special.

Gerard confirmed that there is a P4C in the works and has been since the first P3C rolled out of production. They are definitely working on it, the question is when mortals will see it.

20% better will be interesting to see if they can pull it off.

Cancellera after yesterdays TT:

"With a swarm of journalists interrogating him at the finish, Cancellara considered his defeat further. "You know maybe I made some mistakes. Maybe I didn't warm up enough. Maybe I didn't choose the right material. But this is certain: I won't make the same mistakes a second time."

Didn't choose the right material? Huh? Is he referring to his jersey or his P3? Maybe he's hoping for the P4 too... ;)

It appears that there are more than a few threads going on about the Cervelo P4. I thought that it might be nice to have an official thread on this maybe new frame which could appear at the Tour de France.

I took the picture below from the NEW GIANT thread and there is some interesting comments from Gerard in the CONTE BIKE SHOP thread.

So who makes this frame. Interesting design and looks similar to the rear of the P3C but it appears that rear wheel can not be tucked in as much.

  Improements I'd like to see.

1) Less clearance from the rear of the front wheel and the down tube.
2) A seat tube watter bottle holder
3) Option for an 50 deg up sweep in the aerobar extensions.

I think this bike looks like the Giant?

Any other improvements?

Man, my erector spinae hurt just looking at that position! Somebody needs to tell this guy that he needs to get F.I.S.T.ed, and pull his elbows back.

I agree, if I fit him I'd move his elbows back and maybe drop his front end a bit (depending on how much moving his arms back raised his shoulders).

I've said it before, but I'll say it again: hater!

Go start you own thread......

In all seriousness, in thinking about Slowman's 'push up' example, I realized that having your elbows back probably IS important for those in a typical triathlete position, such as the guy in front here.........

Look, I'm not saying (nor have I said) it doesn't exist. My point is that you are acting like a 14-year-old girl waiting for Jonas Brothers concert tickets to be released.
