Re: The Official Cervelo P4 Thread [gregX] [In reply to] Can't Post

Agree with you Greg. I don't like Cervelo because I regret purchasing a QR instead of a Cervelo... and don't get me wrong I did loved my QR... but Cervelo is years ahead of QR in many aspects, if Cervelo didn't exist my QR could just be the perfect bike... well after the Flet DA... but one thing is having a personal opinion and another is to be a smartass and post lies and slander a good company just because you are not good enough to sell them, build them, buy them or just because your head got stucked up your ass when you were looking at all the cervelos passing you!

so mr sab2go if you think that just because you can sign in and type you can slander any one, then you should have no problem with me posting a tread that reads: avoid the tri3sports tent because they will fck up your bike, they know nothing about TRI bikes, they suck, they broke my bike! please give'em the finger if you see them at IMC. is that ok? It probably isn't true but hell nor is what you posted so what the fck? what the hell is wrong with you? go take out your anger with your bike...

Re: The Official Cervelo P4 Thread [Dre_lo82] [In reply to] Can't Post

If the 09 is white, it will be enough improvement for me.
20% faster would need some sort of motor or magnetic trickery. I don't know that cutting weight by %30 would even produce a %20 increase, would it?

They've been selling the thing all century,it's basically the same design refined, and seems pretty good.
Pinarello and Look both have some very nice frames, but cost almost double. If you stuck Fabian on them, they'd be the fastest bike in the world. Watch the world TTs, there's all kinds of very fast frames. Cervelo has 2 things going for them beyond a very strong design- CSC, and production costs not tied to the euro. That %60 hit the dollar takes is brutal.

The move would be to do like everyone else, offer a p3c-b, same mold, cheaper layup and a p3c-a with an elaborately tuned 80 piece layup. The trouble is with the way the design is, I don't really see an elaborate layup helping much.

Oh, yeah, starve a troll and feed the best posts. It's the only way to go on a board.

Lets put a bit of history around these comments.

Store has Cervelo and is an authorized dealer. Great guy sells store to new owner (name change occurs) and Cervelo pulls plug and wants to reduce the number of stores carrying their bikes locally. Big blow to new store owner. LBS down the road now carries Cervelo. New store owner is now without Cervelo (the bike that everyone wants) and is now selling Orbea which a few people want. Lucky for new store owner, I believe that the old owner also sold Felt which more people are liking but still I would venture a guess that Cervelo would outsell both if all three were in the store. I might not be 100% bang on with my comments but I am so very close just not sure if you are a partner in the shop?

Pretty sure the new owner is the sole owner of the shop, so this guy is likely just an employee (and from his sig, likely a short-term one). The new owner is also a good guy and is a FAST local age grouper. Pretty sure he'd be a bit shocked if he saw the kind of bad press he's getting because of this loudmouth.

I thought that was the case but this guy was spouting off like he had more interest in the shop which should be an indication that he does not. I hope that things sort themselves out in regards to this guy coming on here with the tone and attitude he did. I have been in the shop and they do seem like good people. I do know that they did not get Cervelo when they took over and changed the name which is too bad. Still Felt and Orbea are strong brands to have but not as strong as the ol' mighty "Cervelo".

I would think that if you are spouting off on another thread about being a roady and what is wrong with triathletes, that you might take the chance to actually give some tips to us so called second tier cyclists and help out by offering group rides with the intent on educating triathlete on pack riding and etiquette.

Take the opportunity to educate and be a leader in the triathlon community.

Tomorrow is the big day. So what are the chances?

Actually I am really looking forward to seeing all of the cool new TT bikes that companies have been hiding.

So will it be the P4 or the P3C-SL???????????

Totally off topic sab2go, but your Dave Zabriskie quote was NOT from when he set the TdF TT record; it was his comment to reporters upon being told that he was the first American to win a stage in all three of the Grand Tours.... the comment was recorded at the Giro.

Yeah, I'm a dork.

Oops, I guess I meant to respond to your post...

I can't believe everyone is bickering about the P4C when there's hundreds of pages of Tour coverage to go through.

This thread reads like Apple fanboys talking about the new iPhone or something.

Just out of honestly neutral curiosity, how is Cervelo years ahead, and what's the big deal? I'm a relative noob.

Don't hold your breath for the P4C. I ran into spoke with Gerard in Brest for the opening Tour stage, and asked him: "P4C in Cholet?" He said no. I asked "P4C in Kona?" He said no.

I'd also requested the info from Cervelo marketing a week before I saw Gerard, and they said they weren't giving me a line in saying they didn't have a debut at the Tour.

Take that for what it's worth...

Well if we never see it then that is alright. As long as we get an update every single day from you Jay on the main page, that works for me. I hope that tomorrow you are able to get a lot of pictures of the cool TT rigs and the other gear that goes with the TT such as helmets.

So tomorrow with the stage being so close to ST'ers hearts, we should see a ton of pictures from you correct? Hey if you need help next year please let me know and I will fly over on my own coin and help out. That way if we split expenses, it should keep the cost down for Dan. ;-)

I doubt that Gerard would fly to the Tour to delivery a stock frame with custom painting. There has to be more to it. I agree that I might be leaning more towards a P3C-SL or maybe we have this whole P4 thing wrong. What would happen if the Cervelo boys have not been lying at all and there is no P4. Maybe they have a new frame that is nothing like we have seen before and they call it some other name. Now if he is saying there is no P4 maybe there is something else they have up their sleeve. So call it something different and when people ask about the P4 they do not have to lie.

We do not have a P4 at all and never have had one in the works.

We do however have a new AERO-SL that is 25% more aerodynamic than the P3C and 10% lighter.

Well...based on Gerards previous "non-denial denial" here on the pages of ST about the existence of the P3C...can you see why we all can be a bit skeptical?? ;-)

BTW, great pics from the Tour so far...keep it up! If you get a chance, can you see if you can get a good shot of the BB area of the new Ridley bike (in particular how the brake cable is mounted) and also some detail of how the seat stays meet up with the seat tube on the Plasma 2 (all the pics I've seen so far have poor contrast in that area)? Thanks!

I did read that. I am just having some fun with the post right now.

A P4 will happen. It is just a matter of time when we will see it. It could be a year from now at the next Tour or it could be under Mrs. Wellington when she wins Ironman Hawaii for the second time. Only the people in "the know" know when it will be out there.

When it does, people will go crazy.

I need another bike so this might be it or when everyone sells their P3C to get the P4, I will be able to snag one of them cheap.

Tomorrow will be a good day when we get to check out all the new TT machines and the Tech that goes with it.

Latest BrainBike starts tomorrow[Bman] [In reply to] Can't Post

Cervelo is hosting their mid-year dealer convention in Longmont, CO starting tomorrow.
I drove up from Austin and arrived a few hours ago.
I've seen a few Cervelo staffers lurking around the Radisson but no new bikes have popped up yet.
On day 2, most of the day will be taken up with test rides.

by trail:

Sorry this tread is growing so fast that I almost forgot to respond. Cervelo is years ahead of QR first in the build quality, it takes 2 guys and 3 hours to run the cables through QRs internal routing, at least in mine it was that bad! the design has problems like those little screws that are supposed to bring the rear wheel closer to the seat tube, but the wheel all the way forward is already 1.5 cm behind so there is no way to put it closer. The new aluminum QR have nice size options just like Cervelo but the carbon ones come in XS, S, M and L.... not many options and geometry is not as nice as the alu versions or the Cervelos. So at the end there are many small details that add up and just show how superior is cervelo to QR in their carbon fiber Tri models, sure this doesn't make the QRs bad, I loved mine it just makes Cervelo superior. Notice how I did not talk about wind tunnel data and all that... I think we have gone over that enough times!

Re: The Official Cervelo P4 Thread [Bman] [In reply to] Can't Post

Sorry to go off topic in this thread but I am trying to understand this whole "official" bike supplier of IMC thing posted by Sab2go. What does this mean? Is this new store actually the official bike supplier cause I thought it was the Barn?!? Who is doing race support on the course during the race?

Re: The Official Cervelo P4 Thread [clinty] [In reply to] Can't Post

the new shop from port moody is coming to imc in penticton to be at the expo and sell on site. The bike barn will still be open and doing pretty much everything for everyone at ironman like usual but the expo shop rights is something you have to buy from NAsport. It dosnt make sence for The Bike barn to buy that right when the race is 300m from there shop and that they have been supporting IMC for so so many years and so most of the other triathlon in the region. The best thing they can do is focus on giving the best service by focusing on one location and not have to move anything. IT s hard to move a 200feet by 50 feet mechanic area for 15 mechanics.

So, if you want the mechanic support, come to The Bike Barn, you will get about 15 mechanics working early to late and will make sure everything is taken care of. Also for any other need related to biking, that have what you need......There will also be some special on ironman week so a good idea to pass by......

As for the race day support on course, i heard it s also that new bike shop that will do the support...... pretty sad if you ask me......

Re: The Official Cervelo P4 Thread [jonnyo] [In reply to] Can't Post

I did send a PM to Will at the Bike Barn who contributes on the forum. I did specifically ask him what was going on and to repsonde in this email if at all possible.

There is no way that this new bike shop is going to support IMC the same way that the Bike Barn did and it is a shame as Jonnyo has mentioned. Very very sad. The Bike Barn is Ironman Canada as far as I am concerned when it comes to bike shop and support. They just know what they are doing.

Bman... i do stay at Will's place. I m the roomate!!!!!!!!! The bike barn is a big support for me in may ways as you see!!!! Not only do they help with with my bike stuff but that also lodge me and entertaine me!!!!

As you said, the support wont be the same but the good news is, bike barn is still dedicate to his costumer 100% and will be there during ironman week 300m from transition...... so not much change really other than they were amazing at putting so many vehicule on the road on race day... i m concern how a bike shop out of town can get as many support vehicule and motorcycle...
