Re: The Official Cervelo P4 Thread [bikedude] [In reply to] Can't Post

I will head over there and take a look when I can. It is just such a departure from their conservative designs of the last few years. I thought that they would have stepped it up a bit when the did the Trinity line. If it is a new Giant then good on them for their work in what looks like a very cool design and I look forward to seeing the numbers from the wind tunnel testing.

Re: The Official Cervelo P4 Thread [Bman] [In reply to] Can't Post

Aloha from Hawaii!! I am currently on my honeymoon with my new wife on the Big Island!!!!!!

It has been a great deal of time since my last posting- I have been busy with many projects which will be announced at a later date and not to hijack this thread with good and also unfortunate issues and projects.

I can tell everyone that (and this is coming from my inside sources that I talk with on a regular basis) that a new bike from Cervelo will not be debuting next week- The "old" ;-) P3c is still the Cervelo Flagship bike that will be whooping TT butt around the globe! From a quoted source that knows fast bicycles, wheels and positions, "that bike (p3C) is just damn fast, its a design that is hard to improve on".

Don't get me wrong, the talk of a new cervelo excites me just as much as everyone else but it is not happening as soon as everyone hopes and thinks.

Jason, get back to your honeymoon and stop crushing the dreams of the people in this thread. You are in Hawaii and you are online. What the hell! More importantly you are on your honeymoon in a beautiful place. I hope your wife give you heck for being online.

On a more serious note, do you think that Gerard is going to the Tour to delivery say a P3C-SL?????

considering that fabu is riding on a wc-painted p3c, i don't think they'll be unveiling a p4(c) at this year's tour.

if i were less lazy i'd grab the picture off of OREC, but no dice!

Not sure if this has been said yet but the "prototype" P4 looks eerily similar to the new giant TT bike. I wonder if people will still be interested in it even though it doesnt say cervelo.

It is cool how they accomplish the steering system.

Re: The Official Cervelo P4 Thread [pequa tri] [In reply to] Can't Post

See I never thought that Giant would step that far outside of their comfort zone. I like it and would love to see some numbers on this frame.

The picture that I posted in my first post was not meant to be a picture of a prototype P4 at all but I just thought it could not be a giant. I actually thought it would be a Walser. Good on Giant for using someone like Steve to design a good bike for once since none of their other bikes were really any good.

Giant is still using a shit brake that is not aero at all. At least they could have done something there as well.

Re: The Official Cervelo P4 Thread [sab2go] [In reply to] Can't Post

No uglier than the Ordu and personally a bit nicer lines on the Giant and more advanced design from first looks. I have built up enough Cervelo's to understand how they go together and they are not as bad as people make them out to be.

New Cervelo P4, I hope Cervelo discontinues making bikes period, after building about 3 dozen up and seeing the "inner" working and frequest problems they are having I'm plainly dissapointed in their design and huge amout of flaws.

Do your self a favor and go buy an Orbea or a Parlee. Not Crapvelo

Lets put a bit of history around these comments.

Store has Cervelo and is an authorized dealer. Great guy sells store to new owner (name change occurs) and Cervelo pulls plug and wants to reduce the number of stores carrying their bikes locally. Big blow to new store owner. LBS down the road now carries Cervelo. New store owner is now without Cervelo (the bike that everyone wants) and is now selling Orbea which a few people want. Lucky for new store owner, I believe that the old owner also sold Felt which more people are liking but still I would venture a guess that Cervelo would outsell both if all three were in the store. I might not be 100% bang on with my comments but I am so very close just not sure if you are a partner in the shop?

Now with all that said, yes a Parlee would be a great bike to have.

I would also venture a guess by looks alone (not the best way) that the new Giant would kill any Orbea in the tunnel and would be better or give the Felt a run for its money. But lets be honest, all the bikes mentioned still fall short of the P3C and as Gerard has mentioned the P4 will be at least 20% better but you will still not be able to sell them.

Edit: Did you just sign up today to slam Cervelo which by the way is a major sponsor of the race that you are the "official bike shop" for.

Yes. The Cervelos that are so notoriously crappy that they can hardly keep them in stock.

Right-o.

What "flaws" are you talking about? Or are you just making it up?

I realize you are new around here, so I thought I would point out that we have a "whine like the little bitch you are" thread for this type of immature, unsupported, weak-assed attempt at trolling nonsense. And spellcheck is your friend. Welcome to Slowtwitch.

Re: The Official Cervelo P4 Thread [pequa tri] [In reply to] Can't Post

in my view, this new giant bike has big potential. but i've got a few concerns about the design:

-is the seat "post" actually a seat mast? i think seat masts are a very poor solution for people in the real world that sometimes travel with their bikes. they also limit adjustability and resale.

-the front looks very aero, but how is the stem length and height adjusted? i can't really see how that's done. the bike's front end reminds me a little of the new (and not very aero) argon bike with the integrated fork: it has no stem adjustment at all.

-the front brake you'd be forced to use on this bike is a poor design, and i doubt it's very aerodynamic.

Jonnyo, I totally agree with you. Not the best way to start on ST.

Here is his comment about Cervelo.

Then from another thread he makes this comment.

Quote

Added I will be working up at Ironamn Canada this year as our bike shop is the "official" shop of the race this year, stop by out 40x40 tent and say hi! (Tri3Sports)

Cervelo has a very big presence at Ironman Canada so this does not look very good. I think he will be in Cervelo Heaven (hell for him by the sounds of it) when he is working on Cervelo's all day long at Ironman Canada but now would you take your bike to this guy after the comments above. I think not. Just go down the road to the Bike Barn all you Cervelo owners. They will help you out and I am sure do an amazing job.

I thought that the Bike Barn was the "Official Shop" but things could have changed.

The best is that this guy works in a triathlon shop and makes comments about triathletes in the Revelation...why roadies have "issues" with trathletes

Quote
I'm a pure roadie and quite frankly can't stand to ride with triathletes.

You work in a triathlon shop. You do not come onto a triathlon forum and berate triathletes. This is not going to draw people into your shop.

So now that this is finally out of the way. I hope we can get back to the topic at hand. The P4C. Jonnyo, I know that you have seen this bike. You have to let out at least one very small detail.

i was just asking about that. I m not sure the situation is clear right now but we will see. I will sure direct people to the Bike Barn...a cervelo and Orbea Dealer that dosnt feel the need to put down any company because they rely on the vast knowledge and professionalism to get people at there door!

i'm not a cervelo p3 owner, and i would imagine that no bike is perfect, but with your enormous experience (the "3 dozen" you've built up), i'd really like to get your detailed critique of them, their "inner working", and the "frequest problems they are having" and exactly why you are "plainly dissapointed in their design and huge amout of flaws."

please be specific, i'd like to learn about this.
