Sore knees from running Can't Post

I've been running for over 30 years with very few problems except occasional plantar fascitis. My weight and running routes haven't changed in the last 5 years or so.

However, I've recently run into (pun intended) something that has me puzzled. For many years, I just replaced my shoes when my left ankle was sore after a run. With my last pair of shoes (Asics DS trainer, a model I've been using for a 2-3 years), the old reliable signal didn't come on. However, my legs and particularly my knees were sore after a run. I looked at when I had started using the shoes and decided that they were probably the reason.

So, I went to buy a new pair from my favourite shop. No luck since they didn't have my size. Bought New Balance 826. I've used the 825 before without any problems so thought this should work.

Result? Legs were almost as sore after my first run as they'd been with the old shoes.

So, do I ditch the NBs and find another pair of Asics? or is there something else that's going on here.

You're getting old? (no offense intended there!!) My dad went pretty much injury free his whole running career, but now needs knee replacements - actually they were recommended over 10 years ago, but he's holding out haha.

Models of shoes do change from year to year though. I was using the Asics 1000 series for a LONG time, but got injured using the 1120's. Now I'm in Nike *shudder* Structure Triax and loving it.

"Sore knees" is a pretty general description. I've found that Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM (which you can get a Walgreens) seems to help me. My knees used to creak and pop regularly... After 4-6 weeks of taking the stuff, I do feel much better.
