Slime Tube question

I've had Slime Tubes on my commuter roadie for the last year, and I've been doing the majority of my training on that bike this year (since I won't be racing at all). I've ridden all year with prety much wreckless abandon for gravel and most glass. Well, this morning, it happened -- a flat. Staple just to the side of the center bead (and it was raining -- nice ride).
So I swapped it out for a spare tube on the ride and finished. After I got home I pumped some air in the Slime tube, making sure some of the green stuff was coming out. Now I didn't put a lot of air in there, just enough to give it shape, but seemed to be holding.
Any one have experience with these things -- can I put it back in the tire now that it's "sealed"? Or am I just inviting disaster all over again?
