Erik,

I'm game - I've had this for breakfast just about every day for the last 7 years and love it!!!

10oz water
4 ice cubes
1 banana - small ~100 cals of fairly quick carb
2 scoops of Champion Nutrition's ProScore 100 vanilla (all whey) - great protein
1 tbsp nutbutter (peanut or almond) - fat's a must
1/4 cup raw oatmeal - slower burning carb

I love it 'cause I can train hard in swim, bike or run immediately after without any stomach issues. Total cals on a "light day" is ~475 and I can double stuff up all over the place to launch a ultra-distance day.

Wow mine seems tame compared to these.

One small banana
1/2 cup to a cup of frozen wild blueberries
1 cup of vanilla soy milk
1 scoop of vanilla soy protein powder

optional 1 tbl pf honey

Sometimes I add some yogurt to this and some ice.

Jim

CAUTION! athlete under construction.

This recipe was in the July issue of Outside magazine and originally from a Chris Carmichael book. Very tasty. Enjoy.

1 Banana
2 tablespoons natural peanut butter
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
1 cup fat free milk
3/4 cup ice
1 tablespoon honey
2 tablespoons ground flaxseed
2 tablespoons ground wheat germ

Makes two servings. 402 calories, 49 grams carbs, 18 grams protein, 19 grams fat, 14 grams fiber.

Ian,
Do you take a blender with you on the road? Going to Clearwater next week and am trying to pack the least amount of stuff.

3 oz frozen blueberries

Never thought of throwing uncooked oatmeal in there. Hmmm....

3 cups OJ or Pomegranate or mixed juice
2 scoops protein powder
1 cup vanilla yogurt
2 bananas
2 kiwi
2 cups frozen berry mix (blueberries, blackberries and raspberries)
2 tablespoons of honey

optional (depending on what's in the house): granny smith apple, canteloupe, honeydew melon, strawberries

The first 7 ingredients are always the same. Each batch makes enough for two huge smoothies (30 oz.)

Almost same as what I make minus the Kiwi and the proportions are slightly different. Also, I add ice.

1 C fat free yogurt (live cultures and all the good stuff)
1 C frozen berries (primarily blueberries & some raspberries/blackberries)
1 C Orange Juice (subs. Pineapple or Apple)
1 Tbsp Honey
1 medium/large banana
1 scoop Whey protein powder (using EAS Vanilla now)
13 ice cubes (why not be lucky)

Gets you roughly 28-30 ounces of smoothie (big ) and totals about 585 calories with 103 Carbs, 40 protein, and 2 grams of fat and even tastes decent.

I use this as a recovery drink after my Sunday long runs...

You bet I take a blender on the road! Nothing new on race day is the rule of law.

For half and full IM I even blend up the perfect race drink
Water
Ice
Champion Nutrition's Metabolo Endurance - 2, 3, 4 scoops depending on cals wanted
banana
nut butter

It's perfect!!!
